This is flight 12 of 33 from my recent trip where I flew around the world. At the end of September through the beginning of October, I set out to fly around the Earth, and after 16 days, 13 airlines, 33 flights, and over 38,000 miles, I landed back in Kansas City, Missouri after visiting 13 different countries. Over the next 6 weeks I'll be posting these flights in order, so you too can take this incredible journey, exactly as I did! The flights will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday until all 33 flights are live! So, check back three times every week to take this incredible journey with me! Gotta love the sounds of a turboprop. When they feather the props and you get that hum is probably one of my favorite sounds in aviation. Thanks for watching my friend!

@@sla31my first fly ever in my life was with A klm fokker 100 friendship with my classmates on somebody's b-day, his father was working for klm, we were flying above Holland a couple rounds , that was awesome, i was 6 years and after the flight klm gives us some certificates from that flight and somd stickers and A postcard from the fokker 100 ❤ I never forget it 😊 but I'm glad that the A350 / still makes some kind of good engine sound, I'm not a fan of the nowadays quiet taking off planes 😉🙃 A321/ 320 yes the older buzzing ones , and of course Boeing 😁

Regional Express was the last airline I flew on (YSSY to YMAY and return) back in 2018. I got pulled over out of the line at the Sydney check in and thoroughly checked for possession of explosives...!!

You must've been looking real suspicious 😂. No, I'm just kidding. We've all been there before. The dreaded "random" screening. I wonder... Has "random" screening ever really been efficient at catching things?

Maybe next time when I have more time. Unfortunately Adelaide wasn't in the cards at all on this trip.

great video. My favorite aircraft off all time. unfortunately i will never fly on it again as no place i can afford to go has Saabs anymore.
@sla31Ай бұрын
Well my friend, I hope that's not the case. I hope you get to fly one again someday, but if not... You're always welcome to fly with me here. Spoiler alert... There are 3 more flights from this trip on Saab's 😁. Also, I don't know where exactly you're located, but don't forget that Cayman Airways still operates Saab's too. So if you're in the US or Canada, that's much closer and cheaper than flying to Australia.

@@sla31 great news. i will defintly be loking for those videos. i am in Dallas. my side of the family lives in KC. Ironically my Dad and I both worked at KCI at different parts in our lives. He was with Ozark during the 70s and 80s. I worked for USAir Express (Air Midwest) during the early 90s. i have been looking at Cayman but again., the wife and i can only afford to fly once a year and we usually head off to Tenerife.
@sla31Ай бұрын
@dannycnoble I hear you my friend. If this channel hadn't turned into my job, I wouldn't fly more than a couple times per year. I have the benefit of being able to do a massive trip like this... Let's say... Relatively inexpensively haha. It by no means was inexpensive, but considering I took 33 flights, all the way around the world, over a 17 day period, it wasn't horrible how much I paid for it all. But... I'm taking all those flights just for the channel. I'm not on vacation right? So, I'm not spending a bunch of money on fancy hotels or fancy restaurants. I'm staying at or near the airports, eating something quick and easy each day. I don't have all those extra expenses that families would typically have on a "trip." You just need to convince your wife to take a "flying" vacation 😂. But good luck, my wife won't do those either 😂. Anyway, plenty of good Saab flights coming up for you to enjoy on here! And that's cool you and your father both worked at KCI at different times. I too worked at an airport for Envoy Air for awhile when I was in college and for a few years after I graduated college. I worked for them at JLN down here in Joplin before American pulled out of JLN during Covid. Those were fun times.

Saab is a nice looking aircraft. I was surprised to see them take off without flaps. There was slight flaps on landing.
@sla31Ай бұрын
Saab 340's are the one aircraft I don't think I can ever remember seeing flaps used on takeoff. I don't know why, but that seems to be the norm with Saab's, so they must've been designed with a no flaps takeoff in mind. I went back and looked at my other two Saab 340 videos from the Cayman Islands and neither of those flights used flaps on takeoff either.

Great fly! Have you heard Southwest Airlines plane was struck a bullet from gunfire it was preparing to takeoff from Dallas (Love Field Airport) to Indianapolis forcing to return flight and cancel it?

I did hear that. I was at Love Field the day before.

No flaps on takeoff?
@dannycnobleАй бұрын
saabs are one of the few, if not the only passenger aircraft that can do no flaps take offs like a cessna.
@jonathanparle8429Ай бұрын
No, these aircraft don't require them. They get up to speed very quickly and obviously rotation speed is relatively low as well. Even at shorter regional airports they don't use them.
@PeterEdinАй бұрын
I have seen a Fokker F100 do a flapless take off.

Weird plane didn't have speed brakes on wings. Wonder how it slowed down.
@sla31Ай бұрын
Well, remember that speed brakes are but one of several ways aircraft can use to slow down. Aircraft still have friction brakes on the wheels, just like a car, and they become more effective the slower the aircraft moves. As the aircraft loses lift and more weight it put on the landing gear, the friction brakes work better. Also, don't forget that aircraft often use their engines to help decelerate. Using reverse thrust from the engines is very effective way to help slow an aircraft down. Which brings us to why some turboprops don't have/use speed brakes. Turboprops obviously don't have reverse thrust like a jet, but what turboprops have that jets don't have are massive propellers. Propellers that can change pitch to have more or less air resistance. This is called having variable pitch propellers and having variable pitch propellers is one of the criteria necessary for an aircraft to be considered a "complex aircraft." Have you ever heard the term "feathering" a propeller? This is the process of changing the pitch of the propeller blades to align them better with the air flow around the plane. You can hear this process happening in real time watching videos like this. When you hear the hum of the propeller blades deepen with that reverberating hum, that is when the pilots have changed the pitch of the propeller. Anyway, a useful feature of being able to change the pitch of the propellers, aside from aerodynamic efficiency when flying, is that the exact opposite can be done upon landing. The propellers can be pitched the opposite direction, where it effectively becomes its own giant speed brake. Instead of feathering the propeller for aerodynamic efficiency, it's pitched to create maximum aerodynamic drag. I.e., a giant spinning speed brake. Which ends up creating WAY more aerodynamic drag than a small little panel would on the wing. So, I don't know why Saab decided not to have speed brakes, but I'd imagine it's because they probably wouldn't have created much extra drag when compared to what the propellers could already achieve. Thanks for watching my friend!

Did you watch or hear of the Paul vs Tyson fight? If so what did you think of it lol. It’s unfortunate cuz I’m pretty sure absolutely no one wanted Jake to win :(

@@z90777For real, It was hard seeing Jake Paul win the fight. I mean… yes….I understand Mike Tyson is over 50 years old and may have trouble with boxing. But simply - Mike Tyson is still one of America’s greater boxers of all time. Too bad I couldn’t go to the AT&T Stadium to watch the fight and upload it here on KZbin. I was in Waco, TX at the time to match started.

@@GarlandTexasSpotter2024 completely agree with everything you said man. It really is unfortunate and this is not what I wanted to be apart of Tyson’s legacy :( I would say you didn’t miss much by not going to the stadium. The fight itself was pretty disappointing and even the fights before were better than the main event.
