You’re one of the few KZbinrs from Aviation community that post from Tulsa’s Airport on the regular. I was born there and have family that live there. We moved away when I was 4 to California. But seeing your video brings back a lot of good memories of summer trips there. The outside hasn’t changed much but the inside sure has since last time I flew in was 2008. Sadly looks like some the gates have closed. Though, this spring I will be finally making the trip to: Tulsa, Springfield Mo. & St. Louis this spring. Thanks for all the great content… Merry Christmas and Happy Journeys ahead in 2023!

Merry Christmas to you as well my friend. The reason why Tulsa is featured so frequently is because it’s typically my start and end point for all my trips. I don’t live in Tulsa but it’s the closest larger airport to where I live. Joplin Missouri is technically my home airport but I don’t fly out of there much. United CRJ-200’s get old fast.

Wow. You can see how much brighter the sun is in OK and TX during December compared to WA State. I'm telling you, things in the DFW area really do look bigger than in Tulsa. Anyhow, we're having VERY dark skies with heavy steady rain on top of the snow and ice from the freezing rain that hit us, making for very messy and treacherous driving conditions. My GF and I are staying home today. I'm keeping myself entertained by watching your videos!

A thunderstorm system had just finished pushing though the Dallas area, so I imagine this was for spacing as everyone was trying to get lined up. Since the storm had passed, it was now on the east side of Dallas, which meant everyone else coming in from that way would also have to swing around it and line up with the rest of the traffic coming in from the west.

Happy Holidays! Thank you for your wonderful videos, which also unfortunately include the too loud child with the ear piercing laugh! Seriously, great videos. I'd love to know how you secure your camera to get such smooth pictures.
@sla312 жыл бұрын
Thanks my friend and Happy Holidays to you as well. The reason my videos are so smooth is because I don't use a mount. Pretty much everyone else does, and I understand why. It makes filming at lot easier haha. Like the Ronco rotisserie oven, you can set it and forget it haha! The problem with that is that mounts transfer a lot of vibrations, jolts, bumps, and jitters into the camera. By mounting the camera directly to you plane, there is no way around that. By holding the camera by hand, even on the longer flights, that keeps it separated from he plane. Which keep the pictures super smooth. It, of course, is much harder on me though. But, in the pursuit of perfection, that's the only way i've been able to find that provides the results I want.

What are you using as a recording equipment? What mounting device do you have?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
I currently use iPhones to film with. The 13 Pro and 12 Pro at the moment. I usually wait awhile before I upgrade because there are often bugs with the cameras when they first come out. And then I don't mount them. I hold them by hand to avoid the vibrations and jitters being transferred into the lens of the camera. It's often uncomfortable for me, but it produces the best possible quality final product.
@MRBeci12 жыл бұрын
@@sla31 Wow even on your long haul flights you are holding the camera? Do you use a Gimbal for stabilisation?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
@@MRBeci1 That is correct. And no, no gimbal. I do have a RAM Mounts mount that I use to extend my reach when I'm in first or business and it's not easy to reach the window, but it doses't have any stabilization in it.

I hadn’t heard that, but I’m not to surprised. This is hardly the first time an airline employee, who receives less security scrutiny has been caught smuggling drugs or other illegal substances.

Could've just been new. I won't paying attention so I don't remember if she was reading off a card or there were other employees helping. Sometimes people just get nervous, especially if they're trying to learn a new job. I know FA's have to go through a lot of training before they get on the real aircraft, but it can still be a lot when a whole plane is looking at you haha.
