The eagle eyed viewers may notice that this is one of United’s non-ER 777-200’s. It’s the 4th 777 ever to roll off the production line, and it’s also the same 777 that had the uncontained engine failure while operating a flight between San Francisco and Honolulu in 2018. This even preceded the more widely publicized, but very similar event in Denver, in 2021.
@GarlandTexasSpotter20245 ай бұрын
Your Incorrect. The 2021 Incident involved N772UA while departing Denver in 2021. The one in this video, N773UA, was involved in the same incident in 2018 while departing San Francisco. Both flights were to Honolulu, Hawaii.

😂 I swear I looked this up the other day. Too many Untied 777's have been in incidents haha. I think I pulled up the wrong wikipedia page and was looking. at the SFO-HNL event thinking it was the DEN-HNL event. Either way, it’s old and was involved in an incident. So the main point stands 🤣.

I've been avoiding flying for a long time (due to being scared of flying). I'm flying to Japan next year, and I've started watching your videos to help me prepare for the flight. It feels like I'm actually there on the plane, some parts make me anxious, but yet watching if for a while, I get a nice feeling of calm. Amazing videos! 👏👏👏
@sla315 ай бұрын
Two things my friend. First, there have been many people who have commented similar things on my videos over the years. And many of those same people have come back later to say that they did indeed conquer their anxieties by doing exactly what you are doing. So I hope that brings you some validation that what you’re trying to do has worked for others! I’m sure you’ll be successful too! And second, I will always reply to comments and questions. If you ever have any questions at all about what you’re seeing or hearing, do not hesidesitate to ask. There are no stupid questions here and if knowing the answer to any question helps you feel more comfortable or less anxious I’m more than happy to answer as many questions as you have.

Some seriously bumpy air on parts of this flight. Many years ago I was flying from Minneapolis back home to Seattle in a Northwest DC-10, and as soon as we started over the Rockies in western Montana that big plane started bucking like an angry bull. A few lost their lunch and even the flight attendants were freaking out. I thought it was great fun. Cool video, thank you!

It's always a bit deceiving when you see the cabin shots. Because of my status, I am generally one of the first passengers on the plane, especially when I'm in economy. So, I generally try to get those shots as soon as I get on to not catch as many passengers in the background. So the flight was definitely more full by the time we left. I don't remember exactly how full, but it was more than what you see in the shots I got.

Interesting taxi route off the SFO gate which took you, briefly, onto RW10L and back off again. Congested ramp I suppose and that rwy itself being under constr. I think your dept gate was the same gate you arrived in on a previous episode where that 777 had to be towed in. I always dig views of the arpt you just left from on climb out ( off the wingtip 24:25 ). Your engine was definitely getting it's wiggle-on in turbulence ( 59:20 ) and everyone got quiet! Flight appeared to be lightly loaded.
@sla314 ай бұрын
Yeah I’ve had several of these morning wide body flights out of SFO now and they always seem to be light on the load. And I think you’re right. I think it was the same gate as the other 777 flight.

I think pw4000 engine on the 777 shares the same compressor found on pw4000 on the boeing 767, 747, md11, A300. During taxi, makes that d pitch howl.

@sla31Ай бұрын
I hope my videos are able to help my friend. Many people have said similar things on my videos over the years. If it helps at all, there's nothing to fear about that. The aircraft are engineered to do that to help elevate stress. Engineered flexibility. If the wings and engines were all ridged, it'd be far worse and the flex you see is actually the leading reason why these modern marvels can consistently handle turbulence like they do. Anyway, thanks for watching my friend!

Hey Traveler, pray tell, how did you score that sweet exit door seat ?? "I got lucky !!" SFO was on the West Operating Plan today. Google maps was way off from the flight path the pilot took on this flight. He flew further down the coast before turning in. Unless I am mistaken. Gear Drop flaps extended: 2:14:50 Welcome to the Mile High City. Auntie Em, it's a Water Spout !! I watched this "Short" earlier of a pilot talking to ATC, and he says "My copilot just jumped out the back of the plane without a parachute. Do you want me to circle around ?? There's gonna be a dead body where I contacted you first !!!"

I am just wondering you prefer to have personal air vents while flying since some airlines don't have that option.
@sla315 ай бұрын
I prefer to have an air vent, but it's for a pretty specific to me reason. So, filming in 4K causes the camera to get quite hot, so I generally use the air vent to help blow cooler air in the general direction of the camera. Any little bit of air movement helps dissipate the heat.

Is it me or did the pilot exit the runway too soon? Looked to me like he was a little fast on the high speed taxiway and almost overshot the turn on taxiway.
@sla315 ай бұрын
He was definitely carrying a lot of speed. As is evident as we come onto the regular taxiway. As you mention he swung quite wide as the whole engine was basically over the edge where the lights are. I wouldn't say he exited the runway too soon, as that's probably where ATC told him to exit. But I think he was probably carrying more speed than he realized when the transition from the high speed taxiway to the regular taxiway happened. Thanks for watching my friend!
