I'm at a point where Blu-ray is good enough.I've bought and rebought movies on VHS,DVD and now Blu -ray,I have zero desire to upgrade my rather large collection to 4K,I would rather spend the money on discovering older movies on Blu-ray that I've missed over the years.

I'm where you're at but with UHD. If an 8K format miraculously arrives i'm not rebuying everything again. UHD is expensive enuff thank you very much.

This is an interesting point. A new format has to replace the old format OR prices for the different formats must be adjusted. So 8k will come in at a premium until it has wide adoption. A lot of that adoption will ONLY take place when everyone has the expensive hardware to support it. Although most tvs you can buy now are 4K (and not 1080p anymore), there is still not a lot of 4K format unless you are buying physical media at 4K prices(!). How many people will be able to see the difference between 1080 p and large formats anyway unless they have a ginormous tv (8K = 80" tv to see the difference i have no idea?))

TBH most people are going to stream their tv, and how many people will pay for the internet connection to be able to stream 8K?

I'm happy to upgrade my dvd's to blu ray (where possible) and only buy 4K for certain titles e.g. The first 10 Star Trek Movies

I am also at the point where I will not upgrade my Equipment or discs anymore I have 2 Systems a Plasma and and 1080p Projector. I have looked at the cost of a 4k Player and Projector and cannot justify the cost. I have Flash Gordon, Mad max and Ghost of Mars ( one of carpenters worst Films ) that i bought second hand for a few Australian Dollars. Regards Trevor

I think there are arguments for buying 4K and not buying 4Ks. If you already have an extensive collection of blu rays and DVDs, for some people it might not be worth replacing their collection or so spending to upgrade your equipment. For some people they want it in the best quality possible, so they will see it as worth it. I generally tend to buy 4K when available. However I will buy Blu ray/DVD if it’s not available or is difficult to obtain (rare) or expensive.

Cerial get's review copies from KL, he's not buying them all, and have recently restrained myself from importing some american boutique 4k editions for 45€ a pop(Upgrade and In Bruges) and ordered both for 15€ on blu-ray. And it turns out it's perfectly fine, older stuff are a lot more worth it on 4k and it's night and day difference. For the stuff i love i can't resist, but for other i can be reasonable :)

That makes more sense. I really do enjoy Cerials vids just wondered how he got all the releases. Didn't know it was review copies

@@CineApocalypseOnline it's the famous KZbinr effect, most KZbinrs showing off expensive pretty things (not just entre release schedules of boutique label 4Ks) not many people can afford to spend that much money out of pocket that often to make KZbin content

I only own like 2 or 3 4ks I’m happy with blu ray and dvds.

4K is strictly for those that have the luxury to afford it, but I don't fault them for wanting the best. What I do take Umbridge with is the attitude that is "4K or nothing" as if Blu-ray and DVD (most of all) existing is the only thing that is preventing "4K or nothing"

I really buy movies in 4k i love. Bluray is fine for most movies.

PS3 (it does 3D) + 2010 3D Plasma. Pick up Blurays for £1 a pop. Happy days for the bedroom telly. Compare it to full updates to the equiment, Nah, that costs a fortune and im skint lol Do have a cheap 4k 65" Hisense in the living room since the last one went kaput. Im not upgrading everything to go 4k when looking at the bargain basement 1080p price i already have
