I think if you're starting off from scratch, DVDs from charity shops are a good place to start. You can pick up for peanuts, and if you love the film, upgrade as you go if you want. Sales are good but can make you overspend, though you have to be disciplined to stay in a budget.

I am guilty of going for quantity over quality in the last few years because charity shops have been selling off dvds for pennies! I have thousands now but I am not subject to the whims of the streaming giants!

Interesting watch through this one matey.. one point I would also add is know the differences in prices between the different media options.. if you want to build a collection and you don't care about HD or 4k then you can start to build a pretty good collection even cheaper.. the likes of CEX you're looking generally half the price between DVD releases and their blu ray counterparts.. and charity shops at the mo are amazing for DVDs... Most of my DVDs lately have been no more than 50p each and a lot of the time some of my local charity shops are doing X5 for a £1 on dvds lol go DVD is my recommendation 😎👍

I do try to collect on a budget, and find a lot of things in charity shops and trade in to cex a lot.

The Tripods Dvd you have,I have in my collection.I bought it many,many years ago when Dvd was the thing.Season 2 is very good it's a shame the planned third series was never green lighted to complete the trilogy.Its nice having both series in one box set.

I love it, the second series started off a bit dull but by episode 4 it really picked up when they will got to the city of gold. I read somewhere that Michael grade disliked scifi when he became boss at the BBC so he scrapped it. Don't know how much truth there is to that but I definitely would have liked to see how they closed out the trilogy.

I have noticed quite often these High Priced B version films that Vinegar Syndrome and Kino and other similar Labels are releasing can be watched on You tube. Sure it not be that high quality Remastered Version but it worth trying before to help decide if you really want their version. Regards Trevor From Australia

Thanks for the mention, I agree with your tips, budget, Sales, Shop around, know your genres 👌I know I use HMV as my predominant means to get movies, I do search the internet and sales, (I have several internet pick ups on their way in a couple of weeks time) I’ve been collecting since the start of the 90’s (VHS) then DVD and now Blu-ray (which has been since 2012) excellent point made mate, take care👍😃👍

Honestly, I love HMV just wish they wouldn't continually drop the amount of Blus they sell. The one by me keeps dropping the shelf space.

CEX pricing lol. Last time i was in, Babylon 5 boxset £65 used. HMV £45 new. 🤦🤦🤦 A lot of their pricings just daft

@@BrianSmith-lj6ug I've sold some utter rubbish e-waste to them tbh lol Had a few oooold tablets, stuck on android 4 and it was when anything under android 5 was unsupported. Couldn't even get apps on it but they gave me £10 each 😂

I recently got the Criterion release of Thelma & Louise on UHD. With shipping and import duties it came to 60 quid. 60. I love that movie but bloody hell.
