English - Welcome to Schony747 and the full route 75 tram drivers view from Docklands through to Vermont South. This is the full slow TV version of the time time lapse posted a few weeks ago. The rostered timetable is 1 hour and 16 minutes from end to end even on a Sunday when this was filmed! The route length is 22.8 km making it the longest tram route on the Yarra Trams Melbourne Network.You won't hear any of my annoucements on this drive.
There are titles that will appear from time to time to give you information about the tram route to keep you interested. In the top right hand corner of the screen is the location of the tram as you are riding along which is something I haven't used in past views.
The tram was a B2 class tram filmed on a Sunday around 12 noon departure from Docklands.
Like the video and if you haven't subscribed, hit the bell for regular updates. I hope you enjoy the ride on route 75 - Brenden S.

You can’t possible imagine how important are your videos in these lockdown days. I have never visited Melbourne but I am meeting your town because of your work, I use them with Google Maps in a second window and in every stop; I break the video and check where the tram is going and what are the surroundings. Thank you very much for sharing your job.

The route goes through interesting old and new buildings, serene parks, in a nice day. The Forum Theatre with its own rich outside decoration, brought back to me, memories. It was its hall, where I saw nice movies decades ago. Well done, thank you for the history and your nice video.

Excellent video as always, but I do have one caveat. The locations of the trams in the top right hand corner are a good innovation apart from the constantly moving letters in the titles which tend to distract from the tram ride to the point of being irritating. Maybe you could add the names of the tram stops in the bottom left hand corner as we arrive at them to add a little more local knowledge for those of us using a map as we ride. Just a thought!

Hey mate. I have a question about the Comeng B2 Trams. On the speedometer it shows a max speed of 90 km/h but when checking specs online it claims only 70 km/h? I'm confused hahaha. Can the B2 actually reach 90? If that's correct that means the D2 could reach 100.
@Schony747
@Schony747 3 жыл бұрын
All new trams have speed limiters on the trams. The older Comeng have some sort of speed limiter but when delivered new I'm told had no limiter at all. Either way the maximum speed allowed for a tram is 60km per hour. So us drivers have an obligation to do under that speed 😀😀
@DannyWogstarMitsis
@DannyWogstarMitsis 3 жыл бұрын
@@Schony747 Thanks for responding. Oh fair enough, I wouldn't want to hear the D2 do 100 anyways! That sound from the middle bogie is like thunder. One time I pulled out my sound meter whilst the D2 was still on Nicholson Street on the 96 and it hit 78 decibels from about 30 meters away which is ridiculous. I remember I used to hear that monster from almost 2 km away.

I once caught the tram from Croydon to Wimbledon in the UK. It runs along an old rail easement. The tram was going flat out, I had never been that fast on a tram before. Quite scary. Later there was a major derailment with passenger injuries as a tram took a curve too fast.
@TheLostProbe

@@jeremynewcombe3422 the E-Classes can do 80 and I have no doubt that they could reach that on the 96 light rail, but the speed limit across the network is 60 so I imagine the tram driver would be penalised if they went higher than that

Melbourne is about the same age as Stockton. Stockton, just across the mouth of the Hunter River, north of Newcastle, was first settled around 1834 or 1835 and is Newcastle's FIRST suburb. The suburb's main street, Mitchell Street, is named for one of the suburb's two founders, Dr James Mitchell and Alexander Walker Scott. Mitchell's son, David founded Canberra's Mitchell Library.
