This music video was made via ASCII-encoding because it was his unreleased remix of 'Rob Dougan - Clubbed To Death', aka the OST of 1999 culture-shaping Blockbuster franchise original film 'The Matrix'.
Other fun facts for those who don't already know.
Avicii used the chord progression for this remix and blended it with the hauntingly beautiful vocals of fellow Swede, Linnea Henriksson, a contestant of 2010's Swedish Idol, (more specifically when she did her own take of 'Hope There's Someone' in the competition) which was later on released with the same 'song title' as one of the tracks in his debut album 'TRUE' in 2013, which marked a revolutionary moment in electronic dance music.
The album showcased Avicii's bold exploration of new sounds, fusing EDM with unexpected genres such as country, folk and bluegrass.
Still can't believe it's already been six years since Tim's passing. You'd think that time heals all wounds but in retrospect, all it did was to teach us how to cope and live with it. Frankly, I still weep like a b*tch sometimes when I listen to some of his tracks these days.
So, I've decided not to make some emotional dedication for this year because that's not everything we should remember about Avicii, right??? Or at least that's not how I wish to remember him and the legacy that he's left behind.
The stage name 'Avicii' will definitely fade away at some point in the future I'm sure of it. Why?
I mean just by looking at how rapidly the world changes or, more specifically, how quickly the pace at which music subgenres and trends evolve within dance music itself is enough to convince me so...BUT until then, here's my bid towards remembering him. ◢ ◤
