Yes, some parts were definitely steep but the snow was good...so not too difficult...

Beautiful run man! You're getting more and more adventurous. I haven't done that one yet. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers Bart! Only the second time I've done that one. I wanted to ask about the Portes du Soleil season pass. When I go to other resorts, like the 4 Vallees, do I use the same card?
@bartmulder69953 ай бұрын
@@ChasingSnow Since last year yes. We used to get paper vouchers, but nowadays you just show your PdS lift pass and they can look you up in the system. I don't know if they're going to charge your PdS pass or if you then still need to use a Verbier pass (I haven't actually tried the new system yet). If I'm not mistaking, you'll get 5 days 4 Vallées and 5 days Aletsch Arena and, interestingly, also a whole new network of smaller French resorts in the Haut-Savoie. You'll have lots of material to work with!

OK, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure as it seems the cards for PdS and 4Vallees are different systems, as the numbering is different. In fact, I used my Paradiski (Yuge) pass number when registering for PdS but I'll check early next season when I get to Verbier...

Wow, was that a lot of work. On my best day that first run would have been my last for the day. I have to admit that over time you are doing great on the bumps. Well done.
@ChasingSnow3 ай бұрын
It was a great day, so I tried to make the most of it. I am getting used to the bumps and think I've almost cracked it but I didn't ski as much last season, so I didn't get to practice as much. Let's see how next season goes :-)

Thanks, looks like a nice run. The last time I went skiing was in Verbier in 94, unfortunately we had fog all week. I then switched to snowboarding and I've never been back to Verbier. At the top, before I knew where you were going I thought to myself I want to go down to the right (off piste) and fortunately you did! You did go a bit too slowly for my taste on the top section. On a board you tend to let rip in the off piste because it can ride the lumps and bumps more easily than skis in my experience. The other big difference is you constantly have to make sure you have enough speed to run out of the troughs and valleys because it is really tiring having to take your board off and walk out of the off piste. So the way you navigate is looking ahead fifty yards for danger and 200 yards for ensuring enough speed quite different from off piste skiing. I noticed you got caught out at the end and had to walk out. One of the other pains of boarding off piste was that run had a long left hand traverse which if you are regular (left foot forward) means you are in a heel turn the whole way; which I find is slightly harder than toe side when you are facing the hill as you tend to lose a bit of height as the edge slips. You can definitely go more places off piste with skis (because of the flats), but it is less fun. Thanks for the vicarious enjoyment (now my knees don't let me go much now-a-days).

Thanks for all that info. Boarding is a different skill, I did try it for a few months indoors but have yet to try at a proper resort. One day I supposed but even skiing is a lifetime of learning. It's all challenging and good fun. It's only the second time I've done this run and the first time I went down the second part, still exploring Verbier's off-piste sections and the better I know the routes, the more confident I'll ski them. Cheers :-)

@@ChasingSnow Verbier looks like it's got some pretty nice off piste. If you switched to boarding, I'm not sure how well the GoPro would work as you are not always turned head forwards. Might be a bit poor viewing experience.

@@ChasingSnow I want to get a season and my two holidays under my feet first, for the 2026 season I'll be going to Austria for holiday No 1, and THEN I might try Switzerland for No 2, so IF I go to Verbier, and I feel up for it experience wise I might do this run. But it looked scary steep. 😨

My legs were aching just watching that, nice run there. Do you plan to do any glacier skiing over the summer?
@ChasingSnow3 ай бұрын
The steep parts were a bit more of a challenge so had to rest my legs, this was close to the end of day, so they were a bit more tired. I was thinking about skiing some summer glacier resorts but I don't think I'll do it this season. I will focus more on my other channel - Chasing Pavements www.youtube.com/@Chasing_Pavements to get my 1000 subscribers - focusing more on shorts until the season begins but at the moment, just having a bit of a rest :-)

Thanks for this. At 65 it takes a lot to motivate me onto the elliptical every day. Your videos help more than you will ever know. Keep up the good work. Just one suggestion. Maybe not look backwards at the top of the run.
@ChasingSnow3 ай бұрын
I'm really glad you are making good use of the videos Beth... I think the ones where I follow a long trail without too many lifts are more suited to you. When I look back, that's me normally having a rest, this video came towards the end of day, so my legs had a good workout by then. Looking back also gives a better perspective of the steepness, for those interested in gauging the challenge. Keep smashing that elliptical, excercise helps the mind, body and soul... :-)

@bethearl8686 anywhere in the Alps, you just have to find a resort with a good beginner area. There are probably a thousand to choose from :-)
