They need at least six-nine months to close the ride so they can replace the audio animatronics with screens. It will save the Disney Corporation tons of money to use screens rather than having singing robots---they might leave some robots around, but this is a marketing move for Princess and a move to save themselves dollars.

i feel like it’s rightful for this ride to be taken down because it’s harmful source material. However i don’t like how disney is trying to sweep song of the south under a rug. own up to that mistake of a movie and admit is was wrong. however i think they should preserve it to be studied as a source material of how race relations were in america, including pieces of the ride. To be honest, the ride distances itself from the film in a way, they took out uncle remus and the “tar baby” and most if not all the characters in splash weren’t even from song of the south but from America sings, the whole reason why splash was green-lit in the first place

I think it depends on how heavy your log is. I just came back and I rode it 3 times. Once with a full log and we all got soaked, and twice alone with the log to myself and I stayed pretty much dry. At least thats my theory because I only see people drenched or bone dry haha

And then there’s the classic “tar baby” scene that for VERY obvious reasons is not ok. I’m not saying the movie is “bad” it’s actually a good movie as long as you understand what’s wrong with it. Uncle Remus was a great character and for the time it was made it’s pretty cool that they made a character like him. Song of the south is a racist movie and that’s just a fact, and most kids today haven’t even heard of the movie, so it only makes sense to change the theme of the ride.

@@kaylastewart1078 it takes place during reconstruction, so after slavery, there’s a scene where Remus leaves the plantation, something no slave could have done ( yes it still was terrible times back then, but it’s something that many don’t know ) the term and object “tar baby” is also from the original stories and was not intended to be a racial slur, it was simply turned into one as time went on. And in case you didn’t know, Br’er Rabbit and his friends are African American folklore characters.

It just so happens that song of the south keeps the theme for the movie instead of it being one or two scenes with a few characters. This ride is so nostalgic because as a wee little lad i liked to go on the ride a lot i remember after i finished i would want to go back in line again and again and gain you get the point...........NOW AS A 13 YEAR OLD IT WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. when i went i wanted to go on the front BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. I rode this twice in a row with some of my friends and I was sitting in the second row. My best friend was in the first row and we got drenched and we rode it at night so we were very cold.

this is my favourite ride but when i went to disneyland it was closed for refurbishment :( gonna have to wait a while til i can go again but until then im glad these videos exist

i went to Disneyland like two weeks ago for my birthday and when i saw splash mountain i was so sad to see no water and some scaffolding like construction at the top of the last drop and made me almost want to cry or at least tear up one drop #savesplashmountain
