How is your experience so far compared to gaming on Windows? Is it really like a console where you just click on play button and everything works, or do you need to manually fix and troubleshot some games in order to play them?
@taoliu3949 Жыл бұрын
@@ИванИ-м3жNot all games have full compatibility even with Proton, but the vast majority of games requires very little if any tinkering. Certain games with kernel level anti-cheat is never going to work though. If you're not okay with tinkering with your system and/or not playing a certain game due to windows only anticheat, then Linux is not for you.

This is a great system top-notch in every way. I abandoned windows when XP was current and have been gaming on Linux ever since. Things have really got going since valve started developing proton and the fact that we are now at parity with windows in most cases and actually improving on Windows performance in some cases it's incredible.

Nah. Memclock issue exists (when amd card locks memclock to lowest possible value) for years and recently started affecting new 7xxx series of amd card. Also, RT still in progress and basically not usable: at worse, you got artifacts all over the place, at best - your fps will be 1/4 of what you got on windows. VP9 still not supported on opensource drivers. And etc, etc, etc. So, I wouldn't say that an "amazing experience". More like "you can play fine, most of the times".
@rayzor285 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it can be.. even with Nvidia I've had pretty good luck and proton is amazing no doubt. It still depends what you're trying to play though.. There's a lot of games that still don't run well on Linux. There's also a lot of good games that aren't on steam (like pubg) so it'll probably never be playable on Linux.
@MrjinZin0902 Жыл бұрын
@@rayzor285 never say never. it's all about user base. more users use linux, more games support linux. simple principle. already happening now. some games at least checked proton compatibility check and pretty quickly fixed problems. if 5% or 10% user uses linux then we will experience whole new gaming environment. That is not dream anymore.

Agreed. The one in this video blows PS5 out of the water, but I'd be fine with something fairly competitive with PS5 in terms of power. I'd rather avoid liquid cooling too. I just don't want to worry about leaks. I bought a used Steam Deck a couple months ago and was blown away by what it could do, especially with a dock, but I just wish it had a little more power. It's incredible as a handheld, but it's just not beefy enough to be my living room entertainment. I'm glad to see videos like this echoing my desire for the UX and features of Steam Deck combined with the power of full PC gaming, but I'm seeing mostly low budget and low quality or high budget and high quality. I've only seen one video of a mid budget mid quality modern Steam OS adjacent build, and it's (at this time) from 4 months ago and from a channel with 755 subs. I think there's a real market for people who want to build a gaming PC that offers bang for their buck while avoiding Windows 11. My gaming laptop is 8 years old and my desktop I built is even older. It's time for something new(ish).

My major problems I had were not going to be easily found and solved. It seemed to have worse performance than SteamOS and Nobara. It also had a problem lauching games; they would instantly crash without error or a compatibility tool failure error would pop-up. I do like that a battery charge limit can be set on the Deck with Bazzite (it seems to even remember it after SteamOS was reinstalled).
