Red wire is the wired interconnect in your case. Put a wire nut on it, tuck it back in the box and ignore it. Licensed Electrician here.

Sorry. I paused the video the tell you that and in your next sentence after I restarted you had that covered. The old wired interconnect can be ANY color depending on how the original electrician installed it. Pay attention to the either RED, YELLOW, or ORANGE wire coming from the EXISTING smoke detector unit as you remove it. That's usually the interconnect depending on the old unit.

Good review, how good would you say the path light is? Seemed pretty useless on the 1st Gen. But I read they made it brighter in the 2nd gen. Wondering how much brighter.
