Me & my dad did a taxy run in Just Jane back in 2015.. We stood behind the pilot and engineer, what an experience! The noise from all 4 Merlins was incredible…

Thank you Neville for this very nostalgic Video of Tony,s Mosquito. I remember seeing the long haul of Tony's restoration at Elvington before coming to East Kirkby. What would it take to make this aircraft airworth I wonder?

Airworthy? Around £6m and a replacement wooden structure. Tony assembled the aircraft’s structure to ‘airworthy’ condition as he used official DH repair publications, however, as it’s all original wood and glue the integrity can’t be assured so it can never be considered airworthy.

It’d be crueler to see it sat silent and gathering dust in a museum though. Engine and taxy runs are a good mid-ground. It’s still the only running Mossie in Europe for 26 years.

Certainly not a ‘write off’ but not airworthy as the integrity of the structure can’t be assured without effectively destroying it. What Tony Agar has achieved in rebuilding the aircraft into a runnable condition however is nothing short of astonishing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, when it comes to capturing a spinning prop digitally no one does it better than Neville. I've come to the conclusion that following generations dont really know what a spinning prop looks like, they need to have a look at some old movies filmed in 35mm.
