Changdeokgung Palace is a palace located at the foot of Eungbongsan Mountain, the left peak of Bukaksan Mountain in Seoul, South Korea. It is located on the east side of Changgyeonggung Palace. In the eastern part of Gyeongbokgung Palace, it was called Donggung Palace along with Changgyeonggung Palace during the Joseon Dynasty. Changdeokgung Palace is an important palace with a relatively well-preserved original shape, especially its sponsorship is the only palace in Korea and it is highly valuable in that it represents the garden of Korea. It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
Changdeokgung Palace, which inherited the tradition of the Goryeo Dynasty, was built on the foot of the mountain, as in the Manwoldae of Songaksan Mountain in Kaesong. Usually, palaces are constructed to artificially reveal dignity and authority, but Changdeokgung Palace appropriately arranged the functions of the palace to match the shape of Eungbong Peak, the stem of Bukaksan Mountain, without such ties.
Changdeokgung Palace is a palace used more than Gyeongbokgung Palace, the main palace. It was rebuilt after being destroyed during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1868, replacing the role of Gyeongbokgung Palace until Gyeongbokgung Palace was rebuilt, and became a palace where the king ruled the country. A lot of intentionally damaged the part of the Japanese occupation, but Green in the late Joseon Period poetries donggwoldo, composed and drawn in 1900, poetries, Dong Jue figure, composed, refer to the restoration is being carried out.
