By changing 30fps to 60fps, the smoothness of the move dramatically increased. This video was originally broadcasted in 1080i MPEG2 encoded (partially 1035i MUSE analog HDTV format). To get this 4K60P video, deinterlaced by Bob filter, and resized by Sinc filter. I'm sorry I don't have 4K environment, so I can't evaluate how this pseudo 4K affect to the video quality. Carmen Conde Yes. He died a year after these Olympics. He had an undetected heart condition. He was only 28 years old. Left behind his wife (his skating partner). She was a widow at 24. Their daughter I believe was only 2. So sad.

OMG I’ve read Katia’s book “My Sergei” it was just absolutely amazing. I’ve read it twice now, and I still can’t believe what happened. It was just so devastating. I have the sequel too. “A Letter For Daria” and I’ve only read that once. I need to read it again. They’re my favorite books of all time. I’ll never ever EVER get rid of them. Those books are very special to me.

kkstar 12 they are lovely books! I treasure mine as well. Katia has said that years later, she sorta regretted writing them though....because the books were soooo personal and she shared so many very intimate details about their life together which she probably should’ve, in retrospect, just kept to herself. But she went on to say that she was in SO much pain at the time she wrote them, and writing was very cathartic for her.....a way to get her feelings and her sadness out instead of bottled up inside..😢. I understand her thoughts, but I’m glad she shared them with us. Yes, Sergei’s book was filled with intimate details of their life together that maybe Katia wishes she’d kept just to herself. But if she had, we wouldn’t be privvy to such a truly beautiful love story..,..one that touches everyone’s heart and soul....even all these many years later.

Back in the early 90's, they made me fall in love with pairs figure skating. They had it all; beauty, grace, elegance and truly loved one another. So tragic Sergei was taken at such a young age. He was as graceful as Katia on the ice and showcased her so beautifully. There will never be another G&G!

Однако ,Илья у неё не второй,до Ильи у неё был солист балета Игорь Зеленский( это после полутора лет после смерти Серёжи), он жил у неё и дело шло к свадьбе, но что то пошло не так и они расстались! Кстати с Ильёй они разошлись ,здесь повлиял её роман с Бероевым о чём они сами объявили, но Бероев остался в семье, сейчас Катя живёт с канадским фигуристом Пеллетье! Только поймите меня правильно,я её не осуждаю,она молодая женщина и имеет право на отношение ! Всё о чем я написала,есть на просторах интернета ,легко можно найти!

Да, после того, как не стало Сережи, глаза Кати перестали сиять... да и улыбка уже не та. "В тот день, когда остановилось сердце Сергея, моё было разбито навсегда..." - так Катя написала в своей книге. А в интервью она сказала".... пока я буду кататься, Сергея будут помнить...". И Катя катается ради него и их дочери. А в интервью в 2018году,говоря о Сергее, Катя плакала... Это говорит о многом! Я очень люблю эту потрясающую пару! ❤️❤️❤️

После этого выступления нужно было остановиться, волноваться одно, а дело делать другое. Серёжу надо было обследовать, и возможно они бы катались, но только в танцах без таких сумасшедших нагрузок. Кто-то должен был позаботиться об этом. Кто? Жена, половинка одного целого. Он всё делал для неё. Одно утешает, что он в лучшем месте сейчас чем мы все. Всем Всего Доброго. П. С. Я также не верю, что не могли спасти Серёжу. Я жила в штатах, много лет, там такие больницы, такое оборудование, мне проверяли сердце, на экране видно всё, каждый сосудик....... И ничего не нашли когда болела спина? Я не верю. Что-то там не то.

Never thought about that bc it was always their talent and all of their dedication to their profession and their hard work that always attracted me. And of course their beautiful love story, Their looks were just basically icing on an already very yummy cake. On another note, have you ever watched them skate a program and turned off the sound?? Try it here sometime. They are just magnificent. Shows how good they really are. Every time I watch these videos, I miss them that much more..😭. Can you read his lips right at the end of their program? When she asked him something right after they ended their program on the ice and he responded... Did he say “I’m fine”..??? I thought that’s what it looked like. Anyway, I love to watch them in the kiss n cry area. Wow....that special LOVE they shared...💞. I’ll never see that for myself in my lifetime. I think Katia realizes she’ll never experience it again herself....not a love like Sergei had for her and vice versa....and that just breaks my heart each time I think of her.

Many people claim that Mishkutenok and Dmitriev were the real winners of this Olympic games. It is true their program was flawless compared to the Gordeeva-Grinkov's program, which featured a couple of mistakes, but the technique, elegance, synchronicity, and poise of GG was unique, out of this world. Beauty is not always perfect. And this is an example of imperfect perfection...

I remember the drama. They showed in slow motion how Dmitriev stopped when he threw Mishkatunik, and Grinkov didn't do that.

@@L.Spencer great call out. I watched several of M&D's performances and saw he (and many other male partners) come to a stop with each throw. Grinkov remained in smooth motion. Also, when catching out of throw twists, Katia seemed to float down into his arms with no awkward jolts or bumps.

I felt M&D were rough, choppy and just not a real pair. I think G&G did everything textbook, yes, even though they were not perfect, you could tell in their skating that they had learned basic skating techniques at a very young age. So everything they did was built on that and I believe made everything in their program more difficult.

IMHO, they were one of the greatest pair skaters ever! Such beauty and grace exudes from them. They were truly ‘skating as one’. May he RIP....a tragic loss to the skating world. 😥

I had the opputunity to see G&G through Stars on Ice twice. I found myself holding my breath to the beauty of their skating. The song they skated to 'The Man I Love' by Ella Fitzgerald', could not have been more appropriate for the the two of them. I have enjoyed their skating for years.

Perfection!! Did not know Beethoven's "Pathetique" 1st movement and the 3rd movement of "Moonlight" could work so well for Figure Skating ("Moonlight"1st movement, of course).
