I absolutely love the optimism so inherent in this attraction. And I admire the message that the ultimate reward of progress is more time for wholesome recreation together as a family. Just good old fashioned American values. I don’t think you’ll ever see a modern theme park attraction like this again.
@HalasterBlackCloak-u2w3 ай бұрын
too bad it's not necessarily true. many families are working more than ever thanks to the policies of the government and landlords charging high rents. This show exalts technological progress but sadly doesn't talk about the necessity of moral progress to make sure teh time-saving devices and tech don't get used to oppress the people. Without equal access to land for example, you are going to get high rents leading to people working all the time not spending time with family.

Speaking of which, the "something to do" line in the third act should serve as an obvious hint for a legitimate reason for experiencing this attraction, basically by giving guests something to do while waiting for their next designated ride or dining reservation, so they won't feel bored over having to spend too much time in line!

I got to experience it back in 1973 when I was just 4 yrs old, during it's last yr at Disneyland. I absolutely loved it, it was the most stand out memory I always had from that visit. Disneyland replaced it with "America Sings" in the lead up to the bicentennial in 1976. I'd always wished I could see it again. I was in my early teens when I learned it was actually at Disneyworld, but still figured I'd never see it. Thankfully in 1996, with a little family of my own by then, my husband got stationed in the Tampa Bay area. I first went with my 2 young daughters and got to enjoy sharing it with them, and later went back with just my husband. It was his 1st time seeing it despite also growing up in Southern California when it was at Disneyland. I've always been grateful I got to fulfill my childhood wish of getting to see it again and I still love it just as much today, a little over 50 yrs after I first saw it.

I remember my mom use to refer to the "ice box." For years, I would call our refrigerator the ice box. My daughters were confused, so I had to explain it to them. To this day I'll still occasionally say, "Put it in the ice box." CofP has always been a favorite of mine because it reminds me of my parents. I'm glad they did a little update on the last scene. I keep thinking one day Disney is going to demolish the attraction.

Nice that they finally updated the clothes everyone's wearing in the last scene. They really ought to update the script and the props though... The technology depicted in this scene was cutting-edge in the 90's (though believe it or not all of it did exist and was widely available back then) but nowadays all of that technology has become commonplace and much more evolved, or in the case of things like laser discs and car phones has been superceded by newer technologies.

We took our grandson, who was 12 going on 13 at the time, to see this attraction back in 2014. He loved it! It had been raining that day, and his dad and grandfather decided to go back to the hotel. So...I told him we were going to let our "inner kids" out and ride the kid rides. He was all for it! We rode the Dumbo ride, the Goofy coaster, It's a Small World, Carousel of Progress, and the Buzz Lightyear laser ride, the LeMans raceway.. We ended the night with the parade, lightshow, and fireworks. We had a BLAST! The grandson is 22 now, but we still talk about that trip! ❤😊

Beautifully shot! I fell in love with this attraction in the early 1970's at Disneyland. Back then, instead of exiting the building, guests would take a moving ramp from the stage that would take you to the 2nd floor. There, we would experience the post show. The model of EPCOT was in the center. You can see a slice of the EPCOT model on The Peoplemover. Anyway, Mother and Father would describe how this modern city was an electric city of the future. GE was the sponsor and this was a free attraction back when there was an A-E ticket book.

@melindacohea1275 ай бұрын
This version is a 1990's update. The last scene originally was set in the modern day for the World's fair. I am kind of wishing they had kept all of the original dialogue and the tech from the last scene. Starting in the 40's section, the dialogue has been changed to reflect "modern sensibilities" but the wife comes off as a dismissive, negative character. The last scene is so "up to the minute" that it is the most dated part. I am old enough to remember all of the versions and changes, and I miss the wide eyed, joyful embrace of the possibilities that innovation can give. Even so, I loved this walk down memory lane, and believe there is STILL -a great big beautiful tomorrow!
@bob19864 ай бұрын
There's technically 3 versions. The original World Fair/Disneyland version, the original Disney World version which redid the audio and changed the theme song to "Now is the Time" and then the 90s New Tommarowland version which redid the audio a 3rd time and changed the theme back to "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow". Although for the most part 75 percent of the dialogue is pretty much the same in all three versions.
