Just trying to help everybody out. I just fixed my transmission yesterday. Forget about what you add to the rod if you will turn it into a 4.980 length it will work. You do not have to drop the valve body, you can remove one solenoid with a number 20 Torx head bit, then you can worm the assembly in and out if you are patient. Mine works great I appreciate the videos

Great video! A few comments. 1) as most have mentioned you mean 6 hundredths not 6 thousandths. .060 2) I just did this repair on a 2004 4wd 2500hd / 4L80e. The stock pin length was 4.75” we required 4.9375” overall length to get the band engaging in reverse and not dragging in drive or neutral. It worked and we’re back in action for the cost of a fluid change and a bit of welding rod. Thanks again for the video.

Just had same issue on a truck i bought. Had all forward gears and low 1. Knew it was rear servo pin. Bought adjustable pin and set it in .005" longer increments. Slipped at .015 and a little at .020" at .025-.030" longer it held just fine. Set at .035" longer and band was dragging. .025" works great. But only a bandaid fix. Works enough now to resell.

.006" is NOT what you are showing... I'm guessing you added more like .0120 or more based on the caliper gap. Did you not have the calipers zeroed when starting out??

Why didn't you just add a flat washer between servo piston and pin,Because the clip does not have to be reinstalled?

What did you order
@clintwolfe80962 жыл бұрын
@@justinpigg1970 the only thing I ordered was a transmission filter and Gasket and fluid. I made my rod 4.980 in. It doesn't have to be smooth it doesn't have to be a good job because the bore of the rod is a whole lot smaller than the rod
@clintwolfe80962 жыл бұрын
@@justinpigg1970 you can order the ride through any transmission service. Just weld a bunch of crap on the end of it, make it close to 5 in. If you feel a drag when you're pulling forward it's too damn long. I am like you I was worried to death about it, but it's just under five inches. Don't sweat it make it just under 5 in.

What is the total length of the pin?im adding on a piece of metal like cap to the pin not welding.. do I have to round that off as well sence it’s bulkier.

Probably so I got the extension pin and installed it work for about a week then only in the morning would it go into reverse once and not again until the fellowing morning for week the stop going into reverse all the way around

Thats great it worked. Will it work on 4L60e.

Not sure. It's a case by case basis I am sure. Unknown until you pull the pan i guess. And I am unsure how long it will last. Mine is still holding... fingers crossed.

What welding method is used?
@grancitodos73182 жыл бұрын
I was communicating with a person who made a welded extension, using MIG, he added about 1/4" to the pin, to get the travel right. The recommended. piston travel is 0.161", that means buying measuring equipment, something I will have to do. There are extender kits available on ebay and amazon.

a closer look at the terrible seating method that the factory used at the pin base shows that ALL the apply pressure is shared by a VERY small amount of the aluminum piston surface. Just put a grade 8 washer the correct si
