This is sick and will help a lot but one question will this affect marine life that likes to burrow into the sand at all maybe like sea turtle eggs or something?

Marine life is always top of mind for us. The robot is controlled by remote control so someone will be with it at all times to make sure it's staying clear of vegetation or nesting sites.

How well does it work when it goes over plastic toys, rock, hard trash, glass/bottle etc?
@4Ocean2 жыл бұрын
Bebot sifts sand, rakes seaweed, levels sandy areas, lifts and transports loads. If there are tons of plastic items such as toys, rocks, etc. you would first need to remove those items because they are too large to be sifted.

Can it handle wet sand as well?
@4Ocean3 жыл бұрын
It works best with dry sand
@nicoleauger2723 жыл бұрын
No, because it is a sifting machine, so the screen gets clogged easily with wet sand. This is why the majority of beaches around the world opt for a tine -style machine that only picks up the debris and leaves the sand on the ground, which has a less environmental impact then this one.

Would the BeBot work on a beach heavily laden with zebra mussels?
@4Ocean2 жыл бұрын
The BeBot was strategically designed to clean the top 10cm of a beach in order to avoid any marine life. If for some reason an animal does make its way into the collection bin, it will be gently released back into its habitat by a trained staff member.
@wot2312 жыл бұрын
@@4Ocean Thanks but the idea is to remove the zebra mussels from the beach as they are all dead and washed up from the lake. The problem seems to be the weight of the shells and the sand. We need something to scoop up the mussels and leave the sand on the beach.

The BeBot is exceptionally lightweight for a sifting vehicle, and its unique tracks allow it to equally distribute the pressure applied on the sand. This results in a sinking level of the sand 3 to 5 times lower than a traditional vehicle of the same weight. This was purposely done to not disturb any critters that might be under the surface. This can definitely be something Poralu looks into for the future, and we've sent over your suggestion so they can look into it!

@rondanakamura26552 ай бұрын
You are correct! I have seen large fish-shaped trash cans on beaches that are a fun way to remember why we shouldn't litter, but beach grooming tools, robotic or otherwise, are great for cleaning acres and acres of beach. I can imagine they would be exceedingly helpful after storms!

Any living things smaller than the sifter mesh size will simply fall back into the sand without harm. If any critters do make their way through the sifter and into the collection bin, they can be easily removed by one of our crew members and safely returned to the environment.
@itsm3th3b333 жыл бұрын
This is not an autonomous robot. It requires an operator to follow it with a joystick. Why didn't they put a seat for the operator to ride it? This is a disaster waiting to happen. Lots of beach goers like to buy themselves leaving just the head above sand. I can envision some drunk falling asleep or a practical joke victim get rolled over by this bot because the remote operator can't see the little head sticking out from a distance.
@4Ocean3 жыл бұрын
The BeBot was designed to be lightweight, as this allows it to have minimal impact on the beach. It is remote-controlled, but our team members can walk alongside it and ensure that it's steering clear of any marine life or beachgoers.
