The series was great! Had a 4runner 2010 for 12 years and loved everything about it EXCEPT the sound system. Just replaced my old truck with a brand new 2022 4runner. First thing I purchased was replacement speakers. Sounds amazing! I did sound treat the doors more than just behind the speakers and I don't regret it. I still can't believe the crappy speakers Toyota put in there. Isaw the video you did on how paper thin they are but holding them in my own hands was quite the surprise. They went straight to the trash, where they belong. Thanks for splitting the videos into specific topics. The whole process was quite easy, thanks to you.

Nice video, disagree with your assessment of not wanting to do the rear speakers. 6.5" speakers are very close to the surface area and air movement of your front 6x9. Even though the speakers are physically further away from the driver seat, they still make a huge difference in audio quality. Unplug the rear speakers and drive around, you'll see the difference.

I didn't know that Entune has issues getting stuck. I've seen only after market headunits having issues getting stuck. I'm so glad non of my stock headunits had those issues. Thanks again for doing this. Shopping around to see what I can do with not so expensive amp and speakers. For sure I will be very careful with amps as in the past i've seen bad experience with my buddies Mazda 3 where he got installed an amp from CarToys and when music is not playing it gives a very annoying hissing sound. When he complained to CarToys they said thats how it is when you fix an Amp. Lucky for him a shop in Denver Lynx customs help him and fixed the problem. so lessons learned there 1 buy good product 2 go to a good shop.

There is a secret to re- installing those pesky 5th gen rear door panels!! 1. After snapping cables/harness back- put the key in and ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW 2. Be gentle believe it or not, force is not needed 3. Gently rest the panel on the top with panel hanging naturally (flat) then with one hand on the bottom of the panel, pulling the bottom away from the door (rocking it) till the top engages properly. It will even make a snapping sound when you get it into the track ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN MY FRIENDS!!

Good job with the videos! It's really worth the 30 mins to put those tweeters in - the stock dash speakers are just horrendous. If you decide it's too bright you can always pull them back out very quickly but the clarity is so much worth it.
@TRDJon5 жыл бұрын
This is very very true
@TheBassallyear1005 жыл бұрын
@@TRDJon you can probably just use spade connectors and jumper the connection at the dash speakers and not use anything at all in the dash as an option too. There has to be a connection at the dash as the dash / door speakers are run in parallel. The tweeters you got have a crossover built in so it's plug and play. Did you get a harness to go between the dash speakers and the stock plug? If not, you can use this spade connector attached to the end of each wire. It fits perfectly in the stock harness to bridge the connections. www.homedepot.com/p/Gardner-Bender-16-14-AWG-4-6-Stud-Spade-Terminal-Vinyl-Blue-10-Pack-15-113/205846650
@TRDJon5 жыл бұрын
I’d probably need to do it that way since they have 3 connections instead of the two
@TheBassallyear1005 жыл бұрын
@@TRDJon yeah there's actually 4 pins in the dash speaker connection. If you connect a spade connector to the ends of each wire then your + wire from the tweeter, the spade connector will plug into the light green and pink wire pins in the stock harness plug. This is the same for both driver and passenger side. The - wire from the tweeter, the spade connector from it blue and violet on driver's side and blue and yellow on passenger side.

Just front speakers isn't gonna do it. The EQ in the stock head unit needs to be corrected with a DSP to get rid of the boomy mids no matter what speakers or Sub config you add. Best will be to get rid of the stick head unit, but if you are gonna keep it, maybe run a kicker key amp or an audio control amp between the head unit and the speakers. OR, just get the OEM Audio plus system and call it a day. As a long time yota guy (15 years) and with about 4 sequoias and 2 4runners build under my belt, the weakest link in the chain is the stock headunit, then get speakers, then Amp for speakers and a sub....if you do all that, you will be at about 2500...Or, just get the entire OEM Audio + setup and you're good.
@bensonnguyen587210 ай бұрын
If the stock head unit should be replaced, how is the OEM plus system better than buying individual component’s since it still utilizes the stock head unit? Genuinely curious because I am leaning towards the OEM plus system and then saw your comment about how the stock head unit should be replaced. I honestly do not know much about audio. Your feedback is appreciated!
