Got any suggestions if things I should change or add to my set up?

@@psychicpain66 the second row? I rarely have people in the back but even the like 4-5 times a year I do, I guess I’d still like that seat bottom.

Thanks for taking the time! Lots of folks show off their drawer builds, but rarely have I seen how people organize their gear. I camp most weekends out of my 3rd gen 4runner and find that my system and gear has become so much more simplified after about 100 trips. It's funny to look back on how many totes I used to bring. Now everything is streamlined and has its own place. I think the biggest thing is to get rid of the things you don't need and to stash away the things that you rarely need (unless it's fire extinguisher or safety equipment.) I carry a fiskers bow saw and a hatchet and that's been plenty for firewood. I also know this is a funny tip, but instead of a roll of TP, I just use a box of tissues. I find it's cleaner and easier to use and doesn't get dirty when you set it on the ground. Also, one more vote to get rid of those magnets holding your paper towels in case of a collision. Happy and save adventures!
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
The amount of bins I used to have that would slide around and move every time I turned is crazy. The drawers have really helped out a ton. Also the tissue box is probably a better idea.

And the more I think about it you’re probably right about all the magnetic stuff in general that’s in that panel. It’s bound to be a projectile in the wrong situation.
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
Maybe I’ll have to rethink it.

Oh yes! You definitely should move your kitchen items to the passenger drawer so you can access it without lifting your diy countertop! Great idea. I’m just impressed that you fit all that in your ikamper and it closes! If I don’t deflate my mattress enough it won’t close 😂
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
Really? What air mattress do you have? Theirs? I’m ordering theirs for my new tent coming in this week. Hoping I can still fit my stuff in there with the thicker mattresses.

Yeah I’ve actually had them for a while now and I kinda just bought them in a whim. I need to change the batteries in one but other than that they’ve held up great.

Recommendation: Get an ARB cable guide (Desert Rat Offroad) for the fridge power cord. It will tidy things up and keep the fridge slide from snagging the fridge power cord.

I’ll have to check that out! Thanks. I’ve only snagged it once or twice but it scared me that I broke it because I had pulled it out really fast.

Could strap the bear spray to the Molle panel if you are looking for a new spot
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
I tried it and it made a loud bumping sound but I guess I could try a larger strap or something. Thanks!
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
Or do you mean the molle panel up front?
@InGratitudeIam2 жыл бұрын
You've got some great ideas. My concern with the "Desert Does It Panel" is what happens to the equipment stored on that panel in the event of an accident? Absolute retention is critical. I don't think those magnets are able to withstand the forces created by sudden deceleration. Same goes for your holster for your G20. That should be riding in a Level II or III holster. I keep the Element fire extinguisher in the front door pockets. That's the one thing I want to be able to grab immediately without having to look. Having to go to a different section of the truck, move things to be able to open the hatch and look for a fire extinguisher really wastes precious seconds when a fire breaks out. As far as the cost of the Element? Yes, it's expensive but compared to what I have invested in my truck, its cost is insignificant. Also, its run time is insane. This is really helpful. Thanks for taking the time.
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
I have considered that a few times. I may end up going with a different mount for the gun at some point, something a bit stronger but as far as the mag and stuff yeah it may not be the best. The way I see it, I’d rather have a closed knife hit my leg than fly around and hit my head. It is something I’ve thought about and kind of the same reason I’m switching RTTs to mount my skis on top. The thought of a snowboard flying in my general direction in a wreck is not my idea of a safe environment.
@InGratitudeIam2 жыл бұрын
@@OXFOOT I agree. What if you mounted pouches to the DDIP to hold those items?

Do you have a guide on the wiring of the maxi trac to the battery? Wasn’t sure if you had it hard wired or just still use the alligator clips when you need to do a hookup.

The table idea is great. Do you remember what brand of table that was?
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
I’ll have to look it up when I get to my 4Runner again. But I think most roll top tables the are rectangular rather than square will work. Just check and see if the table too fits before you start cutting it lol.

Would like to know more about the g20/g19 holster setup, this is something I've been trying to find a solution for in my vehicle when I carry, any feed back and or links would be appreciated.
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
Yeah sorry I forgot to post all the links but I just put them up in the video description. Let me grab the link real quick. I have a video on it as well way back.
My video on it. You just need a holster with the three mounting points and it should work. I just went with the SERPA holster on their L Bracket.

I garage my 4Runner so I couldn’t fit a rooftop tent… (also don’t want to climb up and down, deal with the wind, or want that weight up high), so I sleep inside. It’s also my daily driver, and I golf regularly, so I need the cargo area available for my clubs. I built a 3 inch high sleeping platform to level out the cargo area with the folded rear passenger seat and store tools and a tarp underneath the platform. I have the Victory 4x4 internal and external molle panels. Inside I’ve covered the panels with my fire extinguisher, Ecoflow Alternator Charger, and cheap Amazon molle pouches. Three molle sports bottle pouches are good for a spare liter of water, an emergency pee bottle, and my bear spray. I have a trauma kit , similar to yours, mounted to the back of my drivers seat headrest. I’ve found that headrests are places to keep spare hats/beanies, and headlamps where they can provide additional interior lighting without even taking them off the headrest.

What state are you in? I love the glock/handgun mount under the seat but I do not believe it is legal here in KY.
@OXFOOT2 жыл бұрын
I don’t live in Kentucky but I’m guessing there are states that it’s not legal. What about the set up is illegal in your state? Open carry?
@luke86462 жыл бұрын
"Kentucky allows any person not prohibited from possessing a firearm to carry a loaded or unloaded firearm in a vehicle in any closed container, compartment, or storage space installed as original equipment in a motor vehicle by its manufacturer, including but not limited to a glove compartment, center console, or seat pocket, regardless of whether the enclosed container, storage space, or compartment is locked, unlocked or does not have a locking mechanism.1" Just curious since it technically is an aftermarket part.

You are the first guy that I’ve seen that shows you have a gun to protect yourself. I figure all you overland guys that go out to these remote places and camp MUST have a gun to protect yourself. How could you not? All it takes is for some crazy guy to come up on you and try to harm or kill you.. and there’s no one else around to help. I don’t care how remote or far out you go, there’s always someone else out there too. And they know you have gear and a truck worth thousands of dollars.. since you pretty much show all you have in the video (and where to find everything).. it’s just too easy of a temptation for some idiots. You guys that do this solo camping and sleep out there in those tents are brave.. I would never do it. My mind would always wonder if someone might sneak up on me at night. Smart move having a gun! Especially nowadays.
@OXFOOT Жыл бұрын
Most of the reason why is because KZbin demonitizes anything g*n related. I will throw it in there on occasion but just enough to let people know and skirt past KZbin’s weird weapon regulations. A camp site I frequent once had a lunatic come through and slash at tents with a machete. I think about that sometimes. I think it was like in the 90s but still, it’s on my mind.
@anthonygiordano3991 Жыл бұрын
@@OXFOOT - It should be on your mind bud. Always be vigilant and use wisdom wherever you go. I love watching videos like yours and I appreciate the effort and content, but you really have to be careful how much personal information you put out there. And.. I can’t believe KZbin has a gun or weapon regulation? How ridiculous! I guess it shouldn’t surprise me though. These people don’t get it. A gun isn’t bad when it’s used and handled properly. It’s the irresponsible people that misuse them that are bad! Man, I remember when my dad used to have his rifles affixed on the back window of his pickup truck back in the day. Times have certainly (and unfortunately) changed.

Do you have mice problems at trailheads you frequent? I moved all food items (condiments, PB, MRE/freeze-dried meals, salt, spices, etc) into a hard-walled container with a good lid and/or a bear vault for leaving in the vehicle after several rodent break-ins at trailheads/camping spots.
