@@edwardmilf7586forward band just broke on my 2009 Chevy impala. Just paid to have it covered so I can’t afford to fix it atm. Should I keep it parked? Or could I use 1st and 2nd gear to get to work and back

@@WyattGoremy forward band broke it was in my transmission pan before I took the pan off to change the filter it been parked for two year before I parked it drive gear went out drove it for a little while in 2nd but eventually parked it cuz it stopped working yesterday i tried it every gear works but drive

Only moves forward in 2 or 1. Reverse is fine. I think this might be my issue

Everything but drive works? 1 and 2 work because of the overrun band. A broken forward band = No Drive. You may have the Transmission Code stored from just before it completely failed. Sometimes the Code sets when the forward band is starting to fail.

You doesn’t have to take the valve body apart. Just take out the bolts that go richt thru the valve body.

I have no forward gears at all in a 2003 grand am with the 4t65e reverse is great, is this most likely my issue?

Grand Ams don't have 3.8 liter engines. If you have a 4t65e in a Grand Prix? The only forward will be in low 1 low 2. It will move forward using the overrun band. No Drive. Low runs on overrun band when you apply throttle. It takes more throttle but it will still get up to about 30mph.

@@christopherwatson283 it might be a 4t60 I’m not the most familiar with gm cars. It doesn’t budge at all in any gear except reverse. I found a used trans for 350$ I may just swap it for that used one

@@southernracing2468 I've never worked on one. Common as dirt used. Kinda sounds like a stripped shell or something. Don't get the wrong year and wrong drive ratio. A 2000 model quad 4 set up won't work well on a 2004 model 3400 GT. Harness differences at valve body. Valve body mods. Drive Ratio.

Band was broke. Common Problem from those heavy on the foot. I forgot the reverse band in the vid. Use the input shaft to line things up.

The forward band is not adjustable. You can change the clutches and steels and piston seals. I'd recommend complete disassembly if it's burned up.

How did you take off the frame that was blocking the pan

Floor Jack. Take out the Frame bolts out on Drivers side. Loosen the ones one the Passenger Side. Raise and lower the Drivers Side SubFrame with a Floor Jack. Engine is on the Hanger. Raise and lower the Engine as needed.

@@chevettajohnson There are other Vids. You can Repair the Whole Trans without a Torque Converter Failure. That Requires Torque Converter Removal. Don't Chase a Busted Torque Converter. Nothing like a Pump Failure which is repairable.

Hit those hard to remove bolts with a decent hammer very hard before attempting to remove them, it sends a shock wave into the thread area and helps immensely to then loosen them up without rounding including the larger torx along the bottom. $30 ATSG book taken from the OEM shop manual has tons of information in it and it is available on eBay (shop smart) hard copy or free access at : procarmanuals.com/atsg-automatic-transmission-service-group-2012/ Part number lookup at: www.transpartsonline.com/TRANS_PARTS_FILE/TransmissionPartsOnline.php
