By rule, the helmet communication gets cut off at 15 seconds on the play clock. Arizona State does not show blitz until after 15 second mark. So Quinn Ewers changed the protection on his own.

Winning the quarterfinals is nothing. It was a great play. We want to talk about legacy. Go make plays against OSU and win that. He already threw it to the wrong location last play against Washington. Front pylon was wide open. Improvise. He brought it when we absolutely had to have it. We absolutely have to have it ALL GAMEb against OSU.

Great route by Golden. As soon as he sees that middle safety cheating inside leverage and start drifting towards double coverage on Moore, he throws a quick double move to his man to the outside, who already has outside leverage to over commit and splits both guys. If Quinn could read and perform like this play on every down he would be legendary. He was calm, cool, collected. Made the reads and the throw and made it look easy. ASU and Texas will remember 4th and 13 for a long time. But back to the breakdown. It seems the defenders were playing to aggressive. They knew where the line to gain was and if each defender had an additional step back I think this play would've been much much harder to pull off. They'd still be close enough to tackle before the conversion and they'd have another step on the deep ball that was thrown perfectly.

It's real simple. Both deep defenders had their hips facing the QB when the target WR was hip-to-hip with the defender. If you have that, let it go...the defender cannot flip their hips to chase the defender fast enough.

Quinn doesn't have the arm to zip balls down field so throws a lot of rainbow passes that take seconds longer to arrive than they should. Nice call and a good enough throw. The int he threw earlier would have been a good pass if he had thrown it with more velocity. His longer passes just take too long to get there and they are never quite where they need to be.

Yes, the SEC was over-rated this year. But. The SEC has been the dominant conference for the last decade or so, so it is fairly natural to give them some benefit of the doubt. On the other hand, you shouldn't let that keep you from accurately assessing the facts. This year was clearly a down year for the SEC. Who knows if it will bounce back immediately or if it will take a few years. But they will bounce back. (And I am a B1G guy through and through)

If Texas kicked 2 routine FGs, didn't give up a safety(Ewers saved 5 more points on that debacle), didn't get burned on another fake punt, didn't get burned on a halfback pass, and didn't commit tons of silly penalties, same applies. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Teams win and lose together. He was lights out when it counted

Yes, underthrown - inaccuracy has been Ewers standard procedure for his career at Texas. His arm is NOT getting stronger, his aim is NOT getting better. "Hitting receivers in stride" only works on crossing routes with passes about 10 yards away. But at least on THIS GAMBLING PLAY-CALL, Sark guessed it would be OK. Not great, but good enough. I wish Sark & OC would call better plays, and for most of the season. I'd always wish their 2nd Half Adjustments almost ALWAYS result in Texas failing and going backwards. When was the last game Texas had a lead at half-time AND built on it thru the 2nd Half? Utah 2023? Sark's demand that the Longhorns slow down and stop scoring is far more concerning than a weak-armed QB.
@Sam53Morgan
@Sam53Morgan 3 күн бұрын
I just hope he doesn't join Ohio State as their plug-in QB next year. This would be a return to Ohio State since he first went there. And they'd be playing Texas as opening games, too. WHAT AN ADVANTAGE for Ohio State. With Texas' secondary constantly depleted by poor recruiting and the inability to find great Freshman DBs, Texas will need significant contributions on portal re-treads rather than Sark & Co's initial recruiting efforts. I wonder how big of loss Sark is planning for this next game?

@@imacrazy6872 no he didn’t it’s zone he has deep middle yes Quin looked at the inside Wr but then looked outside safety never looked towards him in no way should you ever get beat deep like that once the ball is in the air it’s over. In that down and distance you play end zone to the sticks. There’s this old saying if he’s even he’s leaving. Timing was good on Quin but again if the safety played it correctly it’s a pick game is over or batted down or a contested catch that maybe draws a flag for pi.

Why don't we discuss the no call? If I have to tell you which one, you didn't watch the game. That a penalty this obvious, whether intentional or not, should be ignored and decide the game is unconscionable. When has intent been a criteria? A foul is still a foul and should be called. To the degree that intent can be determined it only affects the degree of the penalty not the recognition of the foul. IMO Arizona beat Texas in regular time.
@drm2364
@drm2364 2 күн бұрын
Wrong. Texas missed a field goal that should have ended the game in regulation. Targeting should have been called on the defense on the deep ball that was picked. He launched and made forcible contact to the head and neck area. What about when the RB was picked up and carried/pulled into the end zone for a TD? That's an illegal play.
