When you were commenting on the cleanliness of the transmission pan (3:45) there I noticed a circlip in the far right rear section of the pan. It would be interesting to see where it came from and if it would have caused a problem in the future. Great content and I love your products.

The only e-clip like that one in the transmission is the one holding the parking rod to the shift lever which can be seen is still installed later in the video. Where did it come from? Great question! This wasn't the first time the transmission had been opened, so someone likely introduced it at some point. If the parking rod snap ring had fallen off, you'd lose park shortly there after. Thanks for the question! ~Myer

I changed my pan a couple years back before doing a long tow of a rough terrain forklift. Not sure the weight but wanted to change the fluid and figured it was a good time to upgrade. Problem is I'm not sure if my dipstick is the correct dipstick for my truck. I bought it used, from a dealer, and the old dipstick wasn't sealing up top and the dealer said he would replace it however the one he replaced it with was longer than the one that was in the truck when I got it. I don't know what if anything was done to the transmission but the engine was studded at least. When I refilled it the transmission after changing the pan I added the amount Dodge says plus the extra amount the pan claimed and have been driving it like that. Sometimes it takes it a bit to shift into 6th when cold if I don't let it warm up first other than that it had trouble finding a gear once after towing home a pretty heavy load on a 95F+ degree day that included a lot of stop and starts and driving 45mph or so but that was just at the very end of the trip. Not sure how much I was towing probably around 14k give or take. It was fine the next time I took it out and the next time I towed with it as well, although I was pulling a fair bit less that trip. I'm not sure how much I trust the dipstick it has in it. Crap now that I think about it I'm not sure if the old one was longer or this one was? Think I should start with adding a temp sensor and see what I'm looking at there?

I would verify that you had the right dipstick first. Make sure the fluid level is where it needs to be. A transmission temp gauge will definitely help, especially when towing!

Mayer how come you guys don't drill a hole in the transmission pan to drain the transmission oil out if you guys are putting a new pan just asking I know some people want the old one incase they sell the truck
@pddofficial14 сағат бұрын
That’s a good suggestion.
@stowaway47514 сағат бұрын
@pddofficial I did that with my turbo 400 pan cause I didn't wanna make a mess in the driveway but I was putting a drain plug in it anyway but just a thought thank you by the way

Are you going to be selling just the valve body? If I have rebuilt an engine will rebuilding a 68RFE be plausible? I know that's a tricky question to answer so no worries if you all don't want to. When I bought our truck I bought a core 68RFE as well and since you all are getting some parts out it might be a good time for me to get that job tackled, and by time I mean prior to 2050 most likely :), I might move slow but at least I'm moving.
@pddofficial14 сағат бұрын
Yes, the valvebody is linked separately in the description. 68rfe DIY build is doable, but you'll need some special tools to assemble and disassemble the input shaft and overdrive/underdrive assembly and service the bonded seal pistons.

I know you guys are pros but I can't help but cringe every time I see someone run in a bolt with a impact driver.

I know I make many people cringe doing it. If it makes it any better, I used my Milwaukee "surge" impact. instead of utilizing a mechanical hammer, it's uses a hydraulic style "fluid-drive" technology. I have absolutely no idea what that even means, but it has very low torque spikes, so if I were to have a screw going in cross-threaded, it doesn't have the torque to mar the threads. I bought the gun specifically for transmission type work and is my favorite one to use for small jobs like this. ~Myer

@@pddofficial That's awesome. I was wondering how you could keep that from happening. That's some pretty sweet tech. Definitely wasn't trying to knock you there so sorry if it sounded that way.
