There's a ton of info out there, a really nice write up that lives on several forums (copy and paste from the same user if i remember right) also the 5th Gen calipers stick and freeze too, just less prone to it, but it will happen over time specially in the rust belt. I run the 5th Gen fronts on my 4th gen. The difference is there but it's not gigantic. Also the pins on the 5th gen calipers, just like the 4th gen also like to seize and rust.

During every oil change I tend to rotate wheels and inspect everything. Anti-seize does wonders to keep the pins from sticking. Nothing lasts forever but as i state in the video, this was all preventative for me as the new owner of the car. Happy 4Running.

Thanks for showing this. The brakes on my 2006 Sport are horrendous so I might spring for the upgrade. Do you have an update?

Hey! I was looking for 4Runners from 2004-2008 and I’m not sure if they are still worth it, most of them have 200-250k miles but they look in good conditions, what do you recommend me to do, should I get more money to buy a newer model or those are just fine?
@blipshiftapex904716 күн бұрын
@@MBreton_ its more so about getting one within your budget. There are lots to be had with less milage but it will take patience and persistence. Also consider if you want a V8 or V6. These are all things you have to consider before making your 4Runner purchase.

Did you notice any improvement in braking, ive got 33s on my 2006. Also, are the pads interchangeable? Mine still have plenty of meat on then and they are higher end ceramic so if i can swap them, even better.
@blipshiftapex9047Ай бұрын
@@elektriceye I would suggest you cross reference the gen 4 and gen 5 pads to see if it's the same part#. You'll get better braking due to the larger mass and thickness of the rotors. They will dissipate heat much better. Also my braking feels more even front to back. You'll probably benefit it from it more due to heaving rolling mass of your wheels and tire size.
