I drove to the ski field this winter in full snow. It was really fun. Really easy, but it was the 1st time engaging 4wd on my Ute so made it fun. Went back the next day and did the road in the snow in 2wd to see what would happen and still made it to the ski field haha.

Hey there... just found your channel and have to say its awesome..!! fantastic videos, lots of great Kiwi scenery as well as good info for someone like me who is a novice. We live in Auckland, I'm a chippy and have a 2013 3.2 manual super cab 4x4 Ranger, it works hard week in week out pulling a tandem axle trailer loaded with framing timber etc so no show pony. One of the reasons I purchased it was for some exploration and camping adventures just like you have shown here in this video. My questions, what club up this way would you suggest we hook up with ?, and where about's in the central plateau is that spillway / river at 1:11 ? Many thanks again for the fantastic content, just what I need to keep me entertained during lockdown... dreaming of freedom again soon... I hope !! cheers cheers...

Hey mate, just read your comment. thanks for the feedback. Best advice we can give you is get yourself a good set of either A/T or M/T tires, an air compressor and a basic recovery kit. As for clubs their are a bunch to choose from around Auckland. Jump on the NZ 4WD Association webpage, there you will find the contact info for all clubs in NZ. From experience they are all very friendly and welcoming, Pick one that best suits the style of 4WDing you want to do. Some focus on the extreme offroadig and others are more aligned with exploring. As for the spillway it is along the desert road along the Kaimanawa road.

I'm currently weighing up my first 4x4 and considering a 70 or 80. Just finding other people's set ups really interesting especially for nz.

11:32 maybe tidy up that plastic as well. Silly that farmers leave that there.

Late to the party, really enjoy your work though. Bit of a sad commentary @ 10:53 where tired cocky just abandons his plastic wrap in the middle of no-where.

He's put it in the gateway to try and increase the traction through the wet spot. Hasn't worked, but to get a truckload of gravel up to that spot on the farm would probably cost a days work and close to a grand to buy and transport the gravel. Now its chewed up even more by having a bunch of heavy 4WD get stuck in it.

4WD New Zealand how about upfront possibly name the sponors/supporters with their logo. Then during the trip, if youre using a compressor, doing a tyre shot, using a tyre deflator or winch, show the brand logo/banner(not too large).That way you can be more natural and anyone can figure out what brand of product youre referring to or using. A semi transparent ARB logo in the corner showing for 3 seconds is actually more airtime than saying "ARB". What do you think?
@4WDNewZealand6 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, there are some really good ideas there. We will defnitly take these onboard and give it a go in our next series. Thanks for you input.
