another brilliant video, one of these days southern africa is a goal for me. As for the Fortuner....well, I own a 2006 hilux, 3.0 d4d engine, if you throw in a 3 inch lift and some decent all terrain tyres, they are unstoppable vehicles for the first....200 thousand kilometers, after that you start having tech problems (turbo unit, bearings, etc etc) but that 3.0 engine is just brilliant. Note: my Hilux now clocks 300 thousand km, have had to do some engine rebuild etc etc, but still going strong and working hard (farmwork).

Please take note of 9:44 onward with the music, this really adds to the overall feel of the show, Quietly becoming inspired to do some Australian Overland trips myself, then branching out into the worldwide scene, loving the show!!

Nissan don't want to give me a Patrol to try. But for my Australia expedition 2016, I am really hoping to drive one. But I will have to find someone other than the manufacturers to loan me one.

4xOverland you wouldn't have any drama finding one to borrow.

I hope they do lend you one sometime- I love my Xterra here in the states- it's the last decent SUV they released state-side with a solid rear axle and lockers and such.

I appreciate that they recognized the vehicle limits and did not push for their initial objective no matter what.

Coudnt they build a ladder so they can climb out the reservoir?
@rodagoose10 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. I know nothing about the animals of that area, but it seems a shame to let them die in there. Especially since it amounts to a man made trap.
@LukasSmit10 жыл бұрын
that was my thought as well.

Lukas Smit I thought the same even if it was a knotted rope that hangs over the side...

Robert Cooper I understand that the preservation group who looks after the area do put something in the reservoir to help any trapped animals get out, but they keep getting stolen.

Am from India, I really enjoyed the whole video very much. Really wondered very much seeing the capability of Fortuner!! You really could've done something to save those poor animals being trapped in the tank in future again. Great video!!

Many people have. But whatever is put in the wells to help trapped animals, is stolen within days.

Thanks for sharing Andrew! One quick question: Can I get the same performance on this kind of trips from a 5L-E natural aspirated diesel engine just like the D4d you have on the Fortuner?
@4xoverland10 жыл бұрын
It depends on too many things to say yes or no. One can have the same size engine in one vehicle and it perform completely differently, depending on how the manufacturer set it up.

Andrew, I was wondering how come you've never tested the Nissan Patrol? It is most definitely among the top contenders when it comes to off road vehciles. I'd put it in the same category as the Landcruiser, Defender and G-wagon when it comes to capability

As I am a South African expat living in Perth, we have hundreds of beaches which 4x4 drivers use and camp over night. Its an unwritten rule that you take out what you bring in so that others can use the facilities. When in 2016 are you coming to Australia ??? I would like to meet up with you if possible. I have a 4x4 which never came to SA. Oh how I miss the mountains and the scenery

I have heard so many rumours that the 4tuner was/is coming to Australia and to date there is no sign of them coming in. Much prefer the USA 5th or 6th Generation 4runner to the 4tuner. Have only seen one 4tuner here in Perth.Metallic beige with beige interior. Looked terrible By the way, Is it illegal to drive your 4x4 on the beach and if so WHY ???????????????
@steinwaygrande39719 жыл бұрын
They said that two years ago and even earlier. The question is, are they going to drop the RAV4 or the Kluger, or is this going to fill a notch in the vehicle range ?? Who knows
@steinwaygrande39719 жыл бұрын
There are more then enough options when buying a Toyota in Australia. USA is a different kettle of fish. I know for sure that the latest 4runner won`t be coming to Australia, as it will be in the same class as the Toyota Prado.
@steinwaygrande39719 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you 100%, but l like the styling of the new 4runner, and dont know what people see in it that is ugly
@steinwaygrande39719 жыл бұрын
Forget common rail diesel. We have one thats been in the Toyota workshop coming up for four months and Toyota refuse to acknowledge that there is any thing wrong with CRDs. Google in D4D and see the shit that these engines are having. would never touch diesel. There are plenty of options out there where the vehicles dont have a diesel model
@steinwaygrande39719 жыл бұрын
I cant make any comments about the 4tuner as they are not in Australi,a bar the one I saw a few years back. It wasnt that nice inside or out.
