Wow, you didnt have to use a data link?by the way its torx 10 not 15.
@GeorgeJohnsonJackofAllTrades3 жыл бұрын
Torx 10? Oops! Thanks for the correction. And, no, no data link. No mileage programming needed; the bike's computer (ECM) stores the mileage. But the new speedo will become locked to the bike's ECM after something like 30 miles (50km). So if you need to return the speedo, remove it right away...

Yep-been trying for 2 days to set the colors and get rid of the gas gauge. Eventually I would have made it to the manual. Figured accessory mode is like the car-wrong. Super happy with the speedo/tach-always like to see rpm's. Can tell 4 things at one glance- speed, rpm, gear and clock without having to toggle. Thanks brother-nice looking bike too.

Excellent video quality. You answered many questions. And finally: Your 100% right. The Instructions given by Harley not just on this product but on others leaves one guessing. If it weren't for folks like you on youtube filling in the gaps for Harley accessories they would be selling a lot less product. Harley owes you a thumbs up. Thank you sir, be safe.

I’m glad I found this video by pure chance. I have this gauge on my Iron, and you are correct, it’s a very good gauge and good value for money, but the instructions are really lousy. If I remember correctly, it doesn’t even mention to hold the trip button down before the settings work. I eventually gave up figuring it out, and left the settings as they were. After seeing your video, I will give it another shot.

@@GeorgeJohnsonJackofAllTrades I actually have a slight problem. So I set the settings to what I want them to be, and I am definitely saving each one of them before I go to the next one. When I turn the ignition on, and then off, and then on again to check whether the gauge has took my settings over, it loads my settings for a brief moment, only to go back to the original settings. Do you know why that is?

SlowJohnson!!! Love it! Okay, you wanted to know what we thought. Here are my ever so humble thoughts, just for you. First up, that opening video of you on the bike with the music pounding in the background was KICK ASS!!! Very Well Done!!! I see that you have a good grasp of transitions, and I was impressed. Again, very well done! At 1:20, while measuring the 3 3/4" diameter, it was very dark. You may wish to either wear a miner's light when showing this, or just add more ambient lighting, closer to the target; offers up a seamless product. When talking about the Tach, you may want to include actually saying the p/n, as this is a "conversation" with your audience. Loved the quality of your voice, and the normal lighting you used. The sound quality was actually some of the best I've seen on KZbin in these kinds of videos. If there was one thing that I'd like to see you do, it would be for you to show how you removed and installed the item in fast motion. Most tinkerers and mechanics enjoy that, even though they all know how it works and such, it's just nice to see it being done. By the way, I couldn't hear the subway at all in the back ground. Out of 10 thumbs ups, because I'm a fleshy-headed mutant, I give you a solid 9! Superior Quality Video!

What does it mean when I toggle through the modes eg. odometer, trip A and B, clock and the last mode shows an "R" with a number next to it?
@wlodas19733 жыл бұрын
Hi George. Great movie, explained a lot to me. Say, has the new odometer read the motorcycle's mileage automatically? Does it need to be specially programmed?

Does your speedo display gear selection?
@GeorgeJohnsonJackofAllTrades2 жыл бұрын
It does. But in the manual they make a point of telling you it works by calculating the gear from your speed and rpm and that it might not always be right. I've never noticed a problem but then again I don't ride the clutch in second gear...

Okay so, odd question? I have the tach in my 2018 Sportster, I also have the fuel sender because I have the master cylinder fuel cap that has an LCD fuel gauge built into it. The master cylinder fuel gauge works fine, but the fuel gauge on the tach doesn't seem to work. I got in an accident in November and after that the fuel gauge on the tach worked and it would also show miles to empty and whatnot but now it doesn't seem to work again. I'm confused If I am not programming it properly or not?
@GeorgeJohnsonJackofAllTrades3 жыл бұрын
Is the on again off again all random? Or did it stop working after fixing the bike? Or...
@jonnymac89252 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeJohnsonJackofAllTradesI guess I could try to reword my mumbo jumbo. I installed the master cylinder fuel gauge and sending unit reader and it works great, a few months later I installed the tach and all of the tach functions worked fine except the fuel gauge/miles to empty didn't register even if I set it to on in the setup. What I had thought was the tach fuel gauge and thE master cylinder fuel gauge couldn't both work at the same time off the same reading unit, but I got hit by an old lady, bike hits the ground and shuts off, when I turn the bike back on immediately after both fuel gauges were working at the same time, I had the master cylinder fuel gauge and the tach fuel gauge/miles to empty both working and in sync, then randomly about a week later the fuel gauge/miles to empty just randomly disappeared and stopped working (even if it shows its on in setup). I actually just went outside to the garage and unwired the master cylinder fuel gauge and I'm gonna fiddle with it tomorrow when I can start the bike without waking the neighbour's up at 2am lol

@@jonnymac8925 Wow. That sounds frustrating. I hope you get it working again.
@jonnymac89252 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeJohnsonJackofAllTrades the plan is to completely disconnect the master cylinder fuel gauge, and to reset everything without it to see if it will recognize the Tach fuel gauge. If it didn't randomly work for a week, I wouldn't even be trying to figure this out, but now that I know it works and can work with the other fuel gauge I have some figuring out to do lol
