I was intending to build this kind of project i want to make a suggestion. The frame and drive should be one part with a platform for your feet. Then a body on top so you are able to easily take of a chain from motor and steering connection, a few other main bolts that attach body to frame in order to remove to access the complete drive train. Easier to address design flaws or replace parts. Just my ideas

Hi guys just to let you know you might have oiling trouble with the rear end I would of just mounted it in the right up side and ran both front and rear up the right direction and just had the front one run back wards that would of bin better than running short on oiling on the rear end. also just put the engine on the other side from what you was going to mount it. hay can you guys show the rotation of both your differentials so I can see what way they turn and so I no which way the motor will go and have you looked into that front sprocket adapter hub. also that drive shaft is cool to find out about it. and have you thought about what I said about a reverse gearbox or transfer case in front of the rear differential that way you will not need sprockets and chain to worry about keeping them tight and not coming off any way keep going this will be cool when done. take care Steven

Can't wait to see how this turns out. This is something I've thought about doing for a long time. That steering rack might be too wide though with how the rest of your frame is. You'll have bad bump steer if the pivot points aren't the same with the a arms. I'm dealing with that now on my buggy.

@terryj2574 жыл бұрын
@@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB I saw you check the one but not both, with one in front of the other. Must have missed that part. Would be funny to seeing the tires rolling opposite. If you ever need another electric power steering unit for another project, a Saturn Vue has one, the motor is on the bottom instead of the top. Keep it in mind if you have any fitment issues. I saw on Redbeard's buggy, with a Prius steering column, the electric motor sticks up in the way of seeing a little bit. The Vue steering column, the electric motor is on the bottom and points to the left and is pretty level. You can get a controler dial off eBay to control the amount of assist you want from 0 to 100%. I have one in my 'yota'bota, half Toyota half Kubota RTV 1100. Have you ever seen a solid axle swapped Kubota RTV rolling on 39.5x15-20 tires. No answer needed.

🤔We checked it once but now you have us thinking, we are definitely going to double check that next time we are in the garage 😂
@motomule4 жыл бұрын
@@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB I would think that if the engine is in the back of the kart turned sideways, with the countershaft sprocket towards the front of the cart, you'd need to flip both diffs. If you have the countershaft sprocket towards the rear of the kart, both diffs shouldn't have to be flipped. It seems odd that you'd need to flip only one diff.
@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB4 жыл бұрын
We will definitely double check that before we start welding stuff up to mount the diffs
@larrysutton65304 жыл бұрын
Personally I love that you go into such detail but I think that some people might get bored by the technical side of the build. Try doing some things that are a little bit faster paced like power upgrades to things you already have it might appeal to more people and it would give you something to put out content wise when you are waiting on parts for your big build. It never hurts to have something to fall back on when parts don't come in when you expect them to and more content is not a bad thing just don't let yourselves get overwhelmed by trying to do too much

I'm curious how you are going to solve the bump steer problem with a narrow chassis and a wide steering rack😉
@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB4 жыл бұрын
We have a few ideas! One of them is not using that rack at all lol! If it wont work we will figure something out, but bump steer is a challenge we will have to work thru. We had that issue when we built Not So Simplicity, but we did figure it out after alot of trial and error. Our goal is to make everything as narrow and slim as we can. Thanks for watching
@Fantaman9004 жыл бұрын
@@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB Yeah design and building your own suspension is not as simple as some may think, especially at the front. To keep it simple I would design my chassis from whatever steering rack i'm going to use. So yeah if you want narrow go find a narrow steering rack. Adopting a wide steering rack can work but won't look as good
@wesanderson50113 жыл бұрын
You flipped a diff. Did you address the lubrication of the diff? Some diffs need to be in proper orientation so gears will get lubricated properly. Also backlash or gear engagement is better forward than backward. Designed to go forward fast. Sure it can go backward but your not in reverse very much. These are just questions.
@fabricationnation80524 жыл бұрын
What are you using for a transfer case? I used the same power steering setup
@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB4 жыл бұрын
We are using a drive shaft to connect directly between the two diffs. In the rear there will be a sprocket mounted between the diff and drive shaft. we are mounting our engine sideways so it lines up with the shaft. It will be a pretty simple setup and strong. Also, Trying to make it as light as possible. We are excited to try this power steering setup, its the 3 wire prius one. I went over and watched a couple of your videos. Very nice work! Looks good! Did you use the prius steering rack?
