SO many rusted-on 200 lovers on here, resistant to progress, technology, and change. Had a 100 V8, did >250,000Km in it, then a 200 V8, did another 240,000Km in it. Pulled caravans with both of 'em. Now have a LC300 GR Sport and LOVE IT. Say what you like about the V6, or the lack of cubic feet in the donk, or the 10-speed tranny, or the tricked up eKDSS suspension, etc etc etc. It is a GREAT car both to drive on its own, and also for towing. Current van is a 20.6 weighing in at about 3200Kg packed for travel. I have air bags in the rear coils of the GR-S, and changed the standard tyres to Falken Wildpeak 275/65/R18, and put a bull bar on it. That's it. Best upgraded vehicle ever. Going from the 100 to the 200 was nice, but the 200 to the 300 is fabulous. Just needs an open mind (and wallet) to appreciate it. ;)

Yes but he's not impartial. A 4wd suspension company has an invested interest in ensuring the new model sounds good so they can sell their gear. I think patriot campers did a review on the 300 design and there's definitely some draw backs. Smaller stock tyres is a big let down.

I'll be keeping my 200 until the facelift 300 appears by then we will really know how good it is and the aftermarket would have caught up too. The 'new' screens and CarPlay look like they are from a Camry. Same kind of coin for a 300 can get you some really, really nice automobile.

I was recently overtaken on the freeway at 110km/hr by a 200 and 300 in convoy. Both were towing identical 21’ tandem caravans. Estimated speed they were doing, maybe 125km/hr. The 200 sounded reasonably relaxed, the 300 on the other hand was literally screaming its head off. I will stick with my ever reliable 100 series td ifs.

@ulehuleh2 жыл бұрын
@@animalscars3799 I love the 300 and I love the V6, but to be technical that is not true. It all comes down to engine tuning. Divide the figures by the actual displacement and no of cylinders The lc79 is a prime example. it is the most underpowered farm truck out of the box, Toyota tune it extremely conservatively with the intention of longevity because it is so under stressed and when you put it under load it has the engine size and scale to handle it long term. However then people come along and tune them and they achieve crazy figures which sounds great however now you have an engine that is working harder all the time, and when you do put it under load sure it has the power and torque but that is only because everything is now working harder to achieve it, so that conrod that they engineered to handle X amount of load is now having to handle alot more under compression ALL the time, not just under load so unfortunately this compromises engine life. All ICE, especially diesels are becoming smaller displacements yet still acheiving more power, this is being done for one reason and one reason only and it's not for longevity it's for emissions.

lift kits are advertised as 2.0 in. or 6.0 in. suspension lift kits . . . to the layman his understanding is that his 4WD SUV gets a 2.0 in. I am one of the people who cares about external design. When I feel something not right I will just pass over it. Lc 300 doesn’t feel the right design for me regardless the mechanical enhancements. It could have been designed better in the back and 3rd line seating window. Plus, I like one of the comments who said new engines made taking emissions into consideration rather than reliability and long life. In middle east few lc 300 TT engines started to blow already and that is documented in social media. For vehicles in the garage with engine being deassembled.

@@rickywhittaker4978 Not at all. These vehicles are SUVs, not work trucks. Toyota over engineered that engine to MORE than handle the power outptut, for just as long as previous models. Example: In America the current 5th gen 4Runner with the 4.0 V6 lasts longer than the 4th generation 4Runner that had a V8, because they engineered it to last. You don't know anything about engineering. There are hyper cars with V6 engines putting out double the power and more. They engineer engines to handle a lot more than the power output of the vehicle. Toyota's torture testing of Land Cruiser engines is unrivaled in the industry. They took years to make sure it was right

I don’t want a y62 as petrol and we are deep outback Australia with more diesel than petrol around here. Looking to travel remote every corner of aus next year

@@rickywhittaker4978 I never said that. I said the North American 5th gen 4Runner with a 4.0 V6 lasts longer than previous 4th gen 4Runner with that had V8, and said the 300 Series was engineered to last as long as the previous model (200 Series). V6 engines are not universal. They are all engineered different and engineered to produce and handle varying ranges of power, like even a V8. Toyota over engineered the engine to more than handle the power output and for a very long time. Unreliable engines like a lot of American engines are pushing power at their maximum safe limit. Toyota does the opposite They over engineer engines than tune them down below their output capacity, so they last longer. It is actually how engineering should be. Someone saying "nothing but bad things" is nothing but a liar lol. Toyota put years of engineering and torture testing into that engine before releasing it in their flagship SUV.
