Great video all round. I enjoyed it much, thank you :-) 1) An all oil shock is better for longevity than a gas oil shock. 2) ARM OME leaf springs are made in Indonesia and Malaysia. Choose wisely. 3) Greasable spring hangers are great and make life so easy. 4) Steel wheels, especially steel split rims MAY suit some users better in certain circumstances :-) I consider them a thing of beauty because they make life easy :-) 5) Safari Snorkel, when properly fitted and sealed is an asset to any overland conveyance. 6) I utilise a 10" Donaldson pre-cleaner on my 79 and a ram on my 200. There is ZERO difference in economy and noise. The pre-cleaner is a great idea, I recommend it. The ram does not give more power and the pre-cleaner does not restrict flow either. 7) We exclusively use EDS engineering for bash plates on our vehicles - Brendale QLD. 8) We use ARB bars exclusively but there are other tough bars out there these days. 9) Nice rear bar. We use Kaymar in Australia. They are better than the ARB unit. 10) Auxilliary fuel tanks should be plumbed so that they are independent of the other tank. 11) I like the dual battery holder although when one bolt comes loose you lose both batt's. (try to figure out what I mean). 12) A combi pintle with ball is superior for extractions and towing. 13) Long handled shovels are always more useful and practical. The good old 1HZ. I would have added porting, polishing and tuned extractors. I would have left the timing and fuel pump stock standard for reliability. And I would have added a Diesel Care secondary fuel filter. Every 4wd needs an air compressor and a tyre repair kit. And if anyone reads this far, Sandy Taupe is my favourite LC colour. When I'm chief overlord of the universe, LC's will only come in Sandy Taupe and ASP White Green.

HI there been an off road rat for 50 years, may have a tip for you.A happy New Year to you and the family .For pumping water from tank to tank.use a Schrader valve on thefull tank and use air hose from the spare wheel for pressure to get the water to the shower/ bowl/tank. Works for me

to keep that plastic cap on your sewer tube from coming off, you can rivet two tabs - one to the lid, and one to the tube, to the system, and put at small clip through it... This will keep that cap from spinning and coming off.

I'm not sold on the argument against fuel jerry cans on the roof as presented here. If fuel is transferred into the primary tank as needed, the amount of time weight actually remains on the roof can be minimised. If the vehicle is used as a daily driver (and lets face it 95% plus of 4x4s are) then you are simply carrying around unnecessary extra fuel and tank weight if you e installed a long range tank. Jerrys also allow for simple transfer of fuel to other vehicles- useful if in convoy (as recommended for most remote trips). They are also significantly cheaper- savings that can be redistributed to other modifications that can improve safety or performance of a vehicle.

Mr J3nk0 In Africa the quality of the diesel is very suspect in remote areas, some stations might add kerosene to make profits and or the storage tanks don't drain regularly meaning they could hold allot of sediment which is not a good thing for the engine. A Long range tanks will get you between larger cities without chancing the bad fuel......This build is more specifically for Overlanding that calls for long distance driving thru very remote areas.

waashman No doubt they have their advantages - but all still possible for the minimal of extra effort when using the jerrys. All that extra weight constantly (just the tank alone) means extra stress on components and increases deterioration. Meaning upgrades to rectify or increased replacement frequencies. Most 4X4 buyers will never modify their trucks to this extent- so you are right perhaps this advise is only relevant to that 1% of buyers.

Hi Andrew. How did the old man emu shocks pan out for you? I am thinking of adding these to our Jeep. Also I would like to make a statement of something I overheard once. I don't know if the statement is a fact or not. I was told that steel rims when hit from the side, your axle takes the damage. Versus aluminum rims are weaker and bend, therefore taking the damage and not putting as much stress on the axle. What is your take on this?

Yes, to protect the film, it is advisable to place the film on the inside of the windows. Also, don't buy the cheap ones. They are a waste of money.

Maybe. But only available to Hollywood producers. No TV network in the world broadcasted HD or even 720 in 2003. This was shot on 4:3 DV tape, the best accessible format of the time.

All good, I was just being cheeky. PS. Hollywood Producers were the last to move to HD, major film studios were reluctant due to the fact that preservation of data files was untested against the 100+ year history of film. A version of HD has been around since the 1930's but Japan was the first country in the world to broadcast in 1993 a modern HD signal. USA followed in 1996 and then the world broadcast in 1998 of an Astronaut mission into space (I believe it was John Glenn and my years could be +/- a year) Anyhow, this is all besides the point. Again, just been a cheeky bugger. DV was one of the best consumer available formats of the time. Your video looks great and is super informative regardless of the format! Cheers!!!

Loved this video but wish there was an American version. I have to say I don’t think the air filter test at the end was fair. He showed how much dust was flying up into the air as he drove 99% of which never went near his snorkel air intake. Then says he was in the front most of the time lol. So his friend, who has a normal air intake, was basically driving through huge clouds of dust lol. Of course his friend’s air filter is going to be way dirtier lol A bit disingenuous if you ask me lol
