Good to see a review by someone spending time with a vehicle, rather than reading the specs and driving it around town for an hour....

I owned a 3.0 4jj1 of Isuzu Dmax 2015. After 2 years, the engine and transmissions kicking like the day one ever since I bought it. Such a great vehicle made by Isuzu.

@@jamieroberts777 Glad that you asked. With proper maintenances, it still does. Such a great daily drive. Now I have upgraded the suspensions, linkages, the intakes & EGR blocked. Of course there is shortcoming, but it is still manageable after 9 years.

Very good video you made Mr St Pierre. I have one of those pickup truck, a 2014 Isuzu Dmax 3.0 (4JJ1 engine) (Bought it in my country, Costa Rica). Great car. 122K km already and no problems with car at all. I like the way you make reviews and videos at all, we don´t have any kind of reviews like the one you make over these side of the world.

My company car.... Ranger, my private car... D'max. Ranger has poor fuel economy also is not reliable ( all kind of electrical issues, new engine at 100 000 km, change of engine oil cooler, EGR cooler, booster intercooler radiator, turbos actuator etc). I don't care because it's company car but in comparison my D'max had 0 issue for same amount of km. 20% less fuel consumption. My previous company was I Gen Amarok. It's was OK till 320 000 km. After that it became a nightmare to own. If you want reliable truck you can't go wrong with Hilux (had 400 000 trouble free km on one of those) or D'max. If you want sophisticated truck, reasonably reliable... Amarok.

Thanks for this review, I enjoyed every bit of it, an eye opener indeed testing it right here at home, RSA. Good to see its strengths on off road conditions, i own a 2009 Jetta 5 1.9 tdi coming with recommendations versus post 2010 TDIs sensors challenges, my priorities are "fuss free" & reliable car, I have an eye on ISUZU 250D or 3,0D as a budget bakkie (2012 - 2018), I'm happy to see long term review on it, the capable 2010 Fortuner (seen your review it too) I love proves to be out of range of what I can afford right now.

Andrew, we had a few words a while ago about a LR Discovery, but I've been waiting for a long time for a decent review of the D-Max and you've delivered it. I had an "Isuzu D-Max Experience Day" last year and I spent about 3 hours on and off road with it. I was very impressed with it so full marks to your review. Thank you.

Awesome review! I'd love to see you take an F-150 on an adventure one day. I have a supercrew 4x4, and I LOVE it. Best overall 4x4 I've ever owned. It's a bit big for the tight trails, and it can't rock crawl like a jeep, but for fishing and hunting, it's always taken me to where I need to go. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how the F150 stacks up against some of the 4x4s you test regularly. Thanks for sharing this!

I apologise for commenting so late, but is the base dmax (KB) smaller inside than the higher spec models? I used to work for a conservation organisation in the UK and I drove a dmax on and off road and it was so tiny inside in terms of leg room and steering wheel clearance. However, the steering wheel was not equipped with a reach and height adjuster. Its a shame because I thought the truck was phenomenal, and I would like to purchase one myself. I am 6ft 5 and big built, so would the dmax (KB) not be suitable for a chap my stature? Thanks, Sam

Hi Andrew my brother's picking up one of these Isuzu in a couple days he's planning a very long trip around Australia and he's going to give it a lift kit mud tyres snorkel and he's going to be pulling a trailer with it and quite a bit of gear on it, I don't believe it comes with a locker in the rear and I've suggested that he should think about putting one on, am I correct in saying that. he's been told he won't need one which I don't believe to be true, what's your thoughts on it? Thanks Dan p.s. think the channels great

So very cool to see our "Chicken Tax" is preventing the US from getting some of the best vehicles made in the world. Checking our privilege. Toyota didn't think Americans would buy the foreign made diesel engines. Speaking as an average American, these would sell very well to people who don't want a giant "full size" american truck, but know what turbo diesel can do.

@@overland-workshop One can see it on the video, with the vehicles approaching from the opposite direction. You're doing at least a100 to 120 km/h with the wipers on high speed. Unless the film was sped up a bit. It looked scary. Maybe it's just an illusion. 2:53 ☺😊👋😎👍

@@overland-workshop But I fully agree with you on the morons here on the roads in South Africa. Especially when it rains. Then they're at their worst.
@overland-workshop3 жыл бұрын
If you are judging by the vehicles coming in the opposite direction, then the closing speed would be, if we were doing 80, and they were doing 120, is 200kph! The danger of driving too slowly in these conditions is that people coming up behind won't wait. They will overtake even if they can't see a thing ahead. And if that happens, we are in danger too. One has to keep a moderate pace to keep oneself safe. It's not only about our speed. The closer it's matched, within reason to the traffic, the safer it is. I hate driving in South Africa. The most dangerous country I've ever driven in, by far.
@BubblesTheCat13 жыл бұрын
@@overland-workshop O yes, absolutely Andrew. You're quite correct. I find driving in South Africa very tedious, especially on the busier routes, and in the cities. It feels like a war zone on the roads. ❤ the content. 😎👋👍
