I lived on the South Island for four months during the winter of 2015. Every time I drove past a vista I thought this is the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen and nothing could match it. Then I’d drive around the next bend. I repeated that line a dozen times per road trip.

My father worked with and for the warbirds over Wanaka and because of that my brother became a pilot in the RNZAF. He passed some time ago, he was from London and married my mother. Best memories I've ever had too. Great to see that. Long live the drunk piper cub pilot!!

Now I do even more think about getting that little gem for wifey. That little G-Wagon (from its looks) that offers more comfort, technology and reliability than our niva did, before we got our D3. The new Jimny, as its predecessors, is not a 4x4 to underestimate. Though the space is really limited. It's really a capable rig of fun.

Great video and good job getting a Jimny out. I’ve had an 80s SJ and great memories of it and now have a 2017 Jimny one of the last before this one appeared. Lots of fun and if you travel fairly light with max 2 people it’s totally fine for a few days. Will live out of it for a week at the end of summer on a many thousand km trip through Eastern Europe’s forests and mountains and cannot wait! Keep going Andrew you’re great!

I have one of these new Jimny’s. I downsized from a turbo diesel 80series Landcruiser with 2” lift on 33” tyres. There’s always a bigger and better of anything, but I believe the person having the most fun out there is the one who’s winning. Never underestimate the fun factor of this little car. The big cars are awesome as they’re big and tough and bad ass and ride soft ... but doesn’t mean they’re more fun. The Jimny is full-on 4wd and as fun as you could have and then drive home in a/c comfort with airbags and collision controls protecting your kids. And this model is pretty comfy really, even at 6’2”. It’s just great, economical fun

@maverick22425 жыл бұрын
A couple of things, re Gwynn coment re a theatre, Wanaka has one of the best little movie theatre’s around anywhere in NZ, they make they’re own ice cream onsite, you can have beers, wine and they have couches in the seating and cars for kids it’s an awesome place, right in the centre of Wanaka, always have the latest movies, also if you wanted some test for the Jimni why you didn’t go up the Rangitata to see Edorus also a key tourist spot for any LOR fan since Gwyn is one and also out the Jimni to the test, also stayed in some high country environment to experience outback NZ, perplexes me, seem like you guys are doing the normal loopy stuff. I’m not sure if you meant Mavorva lakes or Manora, but Mavorva lakes where you could have done some proper 4WD fishing and hiking like the Greenstone or driven up to Mt Nicolas Stn on that side of Lake Wakatipu, turn off at the Key which you would have gone through to go to Te Anau to Milford. Maybe time, but you seem to be missing out the best of NZ which is strange vs your normal reflections of countries you visit, not trying to be critical but it seems very tourist like not Overland which they’re is plenty of to explore if a bit different than Aus or SA in access. Btw I like the Jimni...
