I really appreciate the video man. I've been wearing the tac lite pro for the past couple years since i work on the road doing installations (non Military just local government). What sold me on the tac lite pros was the durability and comfort. They don't seem to stain or stay stained by oil etc, either. I do a lot of work on my knee's (i know there is a joke here lol) and they seem to hold up nicely. My only complaint about the tac lite pros really have been that they dont seem to breathe as well as i would like. The Stryke Pant seems lighter but for $20 more seems steep. I think ill try one pair to try for the upcoming summer. Thank you for the video again, it [the video] really helps when you're talking about throwing $70 at one pair of pants.
@FlyingTigersKMT7 жыл бұрын
We had the Taclite Pro as an uniform pant but the colors faded right away and the material was pretty lightweight. We switched to the Stryke pant and they are holding up much better. Color is not fading and the material is a lot stiffer and heavier. Overall, I think the Stryke is a much better built pant, especially for daily uniform use. However, for better comfort and just more light duty use, the Taclite Pro is great because it's a lot softer.

Extra button for the gut, holds AR mags, and done two open top small pockets, which is what I carry mags in on my Taclite Pro, along with closed top holding another one. Will have to try the Styke now, i like the open top small pockets better than the velcro

I have both pants. The Stryker is ridiculously comfortable. On to the negative you can see the wear with each wash - the material looks great upon purchase and just starts fading to garbage. I love these pants enough that I could live with the negatives if they were just cheaper. For the price, the negatives I mentioned shouldn't exist.

Did you turn the pants inside out before washing them as per the washing instructions?
@Hoffa33817 жыл бұрын
Hoffa45- I have to full agree. The Stryker pants feel great. However after only a few washes (yes in cold water) the color was noticeably faded (I wear black & blue). For the price it's a real bummer.

Yes, turned inside out. These are NOT fade resistant. The material does a poor job at taking the dye.

5.11 Taclite Pro are my most recent favorite pants. They are amazing. In black, and indoors, the pockets are not very noticeable. The cell phone pocket fits my Samsung Galaxy S4 comfortably. The phone helps to hide the outline of my pocket pistol which is right behind it in the other pocket. I like the deep rear pockets, and I see nothing wrong with them. Unless you couple these pants with a matching 5.11 shirt, the average person just sees a nice pair of cargo pants. A matching shirt, however, would make it look like a uniform.

Like you, I own multiple pairs of Tactite Pros (4) and have been wearing them for approx. three years. They've been my favorite "go to" daily pants but have recently decided to try the Stryke model for all of the reasons you said and have a feeling I'll be donating a pair or two of my Taclites to the local veterans group. Great review.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video - it was very helpful. I really like the Tactile Pro but I'm not a huge fan of those slanted rear pockets. Not sure why they would appear more threatening than the standard flapped pocket. It was helpful to confirm with the tunneling expanding waistband, 5.11 still kept a belt loop at the sides in the 3 o'clock position. I need that for holster support. Other brands that went to the tunneling waistband removed that loop and my OWB holster will flop over a little.
@JLeeChron9 жыл бұрын
Taclite pro velcroed pocket in front is a good mag stow pocket, the handle and deep pocket in the rear can be for large flashlight carry w/o it dumping. The taclite fades after washing easily, my only complaint. I've made my shorts with them with the hem to my liking (longer) wear good, and don't stain real easily. 39$ each

Super helpful! I just found out I have a discount with 5.11 and need tactical pants for work. I previously would have gone for the cheaper option always, but knowing the Stryke is worth it and I get it cheaper, totally gonna do that. Hopefully the women's version also holds up 😬

You should buy a pair of 5.11 TDU Pants, same style of pockets as the Stryke pant but the rougher material. The TDU pants also have the inside pockets in the legpockets. When I bought my TDU pants they came with kneepads in them which have been useful. Only thing missing on the TDU is the admin/knife/phone pocket. But that is not a problem. That pocket is a bit conspicuous it gets a little more attention too an already tactical dressed person. FYI. Some information I got from a 5.11 employee here is that the strap on the taclite pants is a heritage from the older versions when 5.11 still made climbing pants and tactical clothing, for those operators that repel/climb needed a strap to hook carabiners in for storing them, easy access still to them when needed.

In 2016 I started a job at a car wash and the uniform (shirt and pants) were 5.11, company provided too. I became spoiled and grew so attached to the Taclite Pro pants we wore on a daily basis. Company eventually sold to a bigger car wash who wanted us to dress more professionally. Bye bye Taclite Pros, hello slacks. It was very upsetting. Just got a new job working in HVAC, I knew I needed some sturdy work pants and the first thing I thought of was 5.11. Went to a work clothing store yesterday and didn’t see any Taclite Pros in stock, but found the Stryke pants and thought I would give them a try. They seem to be of the same quality of the Taclite Pro. We’ll see how much use I can get out of them when I start.

I have to agree that the Stryker Series is worth the extra $. The stretch fabric is invaluable, the extra cell pocket is a plus, but the extra cargo pocket within a pocket is really useful; more than I first thought. finally the smooth waistband makes the pant look far richer than the bunch band.

I'm a woman and I use these pants for work. The Stryke pant is a major improvement from the Taclite Pants. The comfort waist is way better than the old elastic waist. Big improvements with all pockets in general, but I have to say the cargo pockets, in the womens model anyway, are smaller and tighter. I suppose that could be good for holding gear, but its annoying if you are going in and out of your cargo pockets. The 5.11 TDU pant is my all time favorite. Huge cargo pockets and comfort waist.

Belt loop loop is also useful to clip a Flashlight like a ProTac or similar light which you might want handy instead of affixing a holster to your pants for the holster. I know I prefer not to have a stupid looking flashlight holster on my garrison belt.

Also one use for those little molle type loops on the belt loops, would be something you could rig 550 cord or something similar too, for those they make carry fixed blades in their pocket, something to retain the sheath after your draw.

Stryke pants are nice looking and very comfortable but lack in durability. Stretch material is nice but not durable. I own a pair and after a single hike through woods some bushes and such terrain area that got caught on branches pulled the stitching. If your familiar with polyester and the wear on it. Stryke pants does ware out the same way. They're very fragile. For the price they're worth the money if your looking for a casual wear in city, but for outdoors activities hiking/training and such stay away taclite pros are a tank in that field.

I have 3 pair of taclite pro pants and I absolutely hate hate the elastic bands in the waste. I carry inside waist band and unfortunately with these pants the normal waist size I wear in pants is actually about 2 sizes smaller due to the elastic. Its uncomfortable even without my ccw on my waist. Im tempted to try the stryke pants because they do not have the elastic but I feel the price is a little ridiculous for how thin the fabric is...

I'm kind of over the Taclites. They were good back in the day, but now there are too many other better options. They would be good pants with a better pocket layout. The cell phone pocket is too small for today's larger phones and the larger cargo pockets could use some dividers. And if you have a knife, light, etc in one of those front pockets its darn near impossible to get your hand into them. They fixed a lot of that with the Stryke pants. Good vid though.

The "pull strap" on the TacLite Pros isn't for pulling someone. It was originally added to hang a hammer from. 5.11 pants were originally for workers like plumbers, construction workers, carpenters, etc. Also the slash pockets are for people who wear a duty belt. The "cellphone pocket" is for a magazine.

Enjoyed your video! I bought several pairs of 32" waist Stryke and Taclite Pros. The elastic waist band of the Taclites would start to dig into my skin after long day and be unfomfortable. The Stryke pants dont. I called 5.11 customer service and they said I needed the next size bigger which is 34". I placed the Taclite pants on top of the Stryke pants and the waist size was definately smaller despite the fact that both models are maked 32"! So i bought 34" Taclites and that cured the problem, but the 34" was even baggier than the 32". Strange thing is the Stryke pants were fine at 32" So I guess I wear 32" Strike and a 34" Taclite. Have you had this happen?

You should definitely address the sizing between the two. I wear the Strykes as well as other newer models like the fast-tac urban pants on a regular basis and I always buy them as size 36x30. My brother wears the taclite pros for work a lot and he handed off a set to me because we were the same same size. To my surprise, the taclite pro pants didn't fit at all (couldn't close the button). I compared and the sizing labels were identical (36x30), but in my research 5.11 claims that their pants run a size large (36=38 real world). This doesn't seem to be the case with the taclite pro pants. They seem to fit real world sizes (36=36 real world). I wonder if this has to do with what you mentioned about them being an older design, and even though they still make them, they never changed the sizing? Just something that might be important to address and compare for yourself.

FYI I just picked up a pair of these stryke pants and the fit is the same old baggy 5.11. I wouldnt recommend these, especially given the price. Maybe for larger guys they fit better but I am a 30/30 and these are so baggy and out of proportion like all the other 5.11's Ive worn. Not sure where people are getting the "slimmer fit" idea from. The waste fits fine but its almost as if they just take the legs from a larger pant and cut them shorter and stick them on the smaller pants. No taper at all, the leg opening looks as wide as the top of the leg and it just looks stupid. Waste of money. Funny how some clothing companies cant figure out that if you have a smaller waste and shorter legs then you probably need slimmer pant legs too.
