🔥 SEIDÄ PASS - Tankcore from Tirol - Austria 🔥 (German description below) Since 1999 we, as one of many traditional “Perchten” groups in our region of Tyrol (Western Austria), chase away the evil “winter ghosts”. We do so every year on the 5th and 6th of December with the so called “Perchtenlauf”. It’s an ancient tradition and has developed over the decades but the ideology remains the same.
The name of this tradition most likely derives from the legend figure “Perchta”. Our group consists of 25 people: One "Hex" (=witch), multiple "Läufer" (=runners) and plenty of "Tamperer" (=drummers) who are smashing on old car gas canisters. As mentioned we keep the tradition but try to mix it with creative new rhythms. A good show while having a lot of fun are the most important elements of our yearly “Hexentanz” (=dancing witch) events, up to 10 shows in 2 days. This Video shows one of them!

Seit 1999 sind wir als eine von zig Perchtengruppen im Tiroler Unterland (Österreich) am 5. und 6. Dezember auf den Straßen von Brixlegg, Kramsach, Rattenberg und Umgebung unterwegs um im Rahmen eines alten Brauchtums - den sogenannten "Perchtenlauf" - die bösen Wintergeister zu vertreiben.
Der Name leitet sich am ehesten von der Sagengestalt "Perchta" ab. Unsere 25-köpfige Gruppe besteht aus einer "Hexe", mehreren "Läufern" in Fellgewändern und einer Vielzahl von "Tamperern", welche auf alten Autokanistern lautstarke Trommelklänge erzeugen. Tradition, kreative Rythmen, Spaß und ein gewisser Showfaktor werden bei unseren "Hexentänzen" jedes Jahr erneut zum Ausdruck gebracht!
Teilt es weiterhin und zeigt der Welt wie’s läuft bei uns in Tirol! :)

Desde 1999, nosotros como uno de los varios grupos tradicionales "Perchten" de la región de Tyrol (Austria Occidental), ahuyentamos a los malvados "Fantasmas del invierno". Realizamos esto todos los años en los días 5 y 6 de diciembre con el llamado "Perchtenlauf". Es una antigua tradición que ha evolucionadoa través de los años, pero manteniendo la misma ideología.
El nombre de esta tradición deriva de la leyenda llamada "Pertcha". Nuestro grupo esta formado por 25 personas: Un "Hex" (=Brujo), múltiples "Läufer" (=Corredores) y varios "Tamperer" (=Bateristas) que van golpeando viejos tanques de gasolina. Como antes mencionamos tratamos de mantener la tradición, pero tratamos de mezclarla con nuevos ritmos creativos. Un buen show mientras pasamos un momento divertido son los elementos mas importantes de nuestro evento anual "Hexentanz" (=Brujo danzante), realizamos hasta 10 presentaciones en 2 días. first of all... they are normally very kind to little children. and the kids are not afraid of them. Only after years of socialication, they learn which look is evil and which is not. THEN, they are afraid of them. I live in Austria and I grew up with Krampus&Co but it seems, that I am quite normal.

Halloween is quite similar in that it came from paganism (just like all the good/fun things), and you're supposed to dress up to look as scary as possible to drive the evil spirits away. Christmas came from paganism again. Try to take everything pagan away and you get something like protestantism, which is outright dull. Catholicism, on the other hand, borrows pagan traditions heavily - whether it be holidays, the way gothic cathedrals look and what not. This is why Catholicism looks most appealing to the general population, where they have saints, beautiful singing, beautiful churches, etc. Old traditions haven't died completely. They live on, even if in different forms.

YEAH, nice. But not traditional. This is a newer form of the so called "Perchtenläufe". They mixed up some things and they did it quite nice. But this is NOT traditional. Also: two horns = Krampus, more then two Horns = Percht
