(5/14/21 and 5/15/21) The 40th Anniversary Buick GS Nationals with Rattlehead Racing

This video was recorded on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky. "Big Earl" Talley brought the "Rooster" (a tubbed 1968 GS350) to the Nats for the first time and won the Bracket 1 class. Justin Carnes debuted "Blackie" (a 1970 GS455) and raced it in the GSR and Bracket 2 classes.

Shame all I have is a 96 Buick Roadmaster sedan with the LT1. I'd love to find a 455 to drop in it so it's an official big block Buick. Maybe someday

Completely destroyed my stock 10" posi with 3:08 gears in my 455 powered 1965 Skylark there 18 or so years ago. I mean I cracked pumpkin wide open! After I replaced it, l lost overdrive in my Art Carr 200R4 transmission on the way home. I guess my 455 was too much for the drivetrain.

Nice 70 GS. Can you tell me what brand/size tires you have on the back ?

Thank you. Those tires are Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S Radials in a P235/60R15 size. I have 275/60s that I use on the street, but the car only has a 3.42 gear, so I am trying to get all the extra help I can get at the track by using the smaller diameter tire. Going down to that size hurts me with the amount of contact patch I am getting on the ground, however. I may end up lowering the gear ratio and switching back to a 275/60 at some point.

What cam, mufflers, headers are on that 70 black GS with white top running high 11's? Sounds great

Thanks! It has a Comp Cams custom grind (ordered via Tri-Shield Performance), Walker Dynomax Super Turbo 3 mufflers (long case, sold through GSCA at one time), and a set of reproduction Mickey Thompson Super Scavenger Headers.

@@joscarjr What is the duration at .050"? Lobe separation angle? The unique sound is coming from the M/T Super Scavenger headers...I have them on my 70 Stage 1

The duration at .050 is 239 intake, 246 exhaust and the LSA is 114.

My goal with the black car was to attempt a streetable build that would run high 11s consistently. The car is very streetable, but a hot day will impact the desired E.T.s. We are going to be experimenting with fuel delivery and getting rid of a little weight here and there to make it more consistent.
