5.16 Custom Fan Shroud!

I made this custom shroud using Assault Racing Products 4522616 16" Electric Fan Shroud for 26" Crossflow Radiator and a 4" wide strip of aluminum stock. Just get the lowest profile 16" fan you can find and you are in business!

RnD Fabrication makes pretty good radiators, with dual fans running strong 8 years now... those flappy things look like the one piece they are missing though. After lots of highway use my shroud has a slight inward bend because it doesn't have those flappy things...but the scout runs cooler than it did with the mechanical fan....

Trogdor good to know! Yeah even without the shroud the abc ran fine with the electric. This will be mo’ better though.

Seems like that aluminum piece you're adding will block flow. Might be better to extend the shroud to cover the whole radiator or just leave that piece off?

fourpoint9 do you mean in terms of drag from driving? As far as fan flow it sits enough off the radiator fins that it will help the fan pull across more of the front of the radiator but you are right there will be more drag at highway speeds. Although I think that part of the radiator sits behind the bottom of front grill section so it may not matter. In any case I appreciate the thoughtful comment and I will check when I mock it up! I may end up ditching it. Thanks!

@@MattsGarage i did something like this on bronco. not sure what your clearance is on a scout. but i had to add half inch spacer to that plate. away from rad. then wrapped metal strapping around those . nice finished looked and no over heat prob.... just my 1.5 cents
