People, we ALL need to do better to protect our wildlife! This may be 7 years old, but people are STILL making the same mistakes! Blessings,Fran

It is terrible to see so much suffering, because pain before dying is indescribable. I am immensely sorry for this wonderful family of Eagles and for their babies. I have wept for my beloved Eagles and for all the poor helpless animals who have been and are still being sacrificed for the human indifference. But the greatest anger is that the poison did not kill all those responsible, including those who They have authorized to spread it, regardless of the serious damage it would have caused. Maybe you consider me ruthless for what I said?? But it's never enough for this little people! 💔💔💔

It's good to hear the female/Mama eagle survived, but so sad that the youngest eaglet did not. This is my first year watching the eagle family in Southwest Florida (Harriet-M15-E9); I must say this is quite a learning experience for my family ... and for me. After seeing how so many things that 'humans' carelessly do that can potentially kill these birds of beauty; insecticides in the garden, careless disposal of trash, throwing cigarette butts and/or plastic trash bags out of the car window, etc ▬ I've become quite cautious when outdoors, and really *stop to think* how my actions will affect nature. Even placing trash outside in the trash can, I know there's a possibility that it could be rummaged through and if the bird ate it, he/she could be sickened or fatally harmed. What a lesson this has been; I give my heartfelt thanks to those who are getting these videos out to the public ▬ so 'humans' can learn!
@Nana911717 жыл бұрын
polly, I felt like I wanted to jump through the screen to save them! This is such a heartbreaking scene - and this video should be seen by as many 'humans' as possible. Seriously, people need to learn to really consider how their actions affect everything in nature. Ughhhh .. so very sad!!!

@Katnea36 жыл бұрын
From what I've gathered, I think mom 'may' have died as well? I also recall reading about the male eagle (Dad) has long since found another mate? That said, I'm so grateful that autopsies were performed to find out exactly what caused their death. Also, with regards to the ongoing use of Methomyl pesticide, well, I can't say that I'm not surprise by this. (Sigh) After all, I read a Mother Jones article (01/07/16) that said the EPA had finally admitted that the world's most popular pesticide "Neonics" kills bees.The problem being, it was 20 years too late! (Phifft) Oh, and I also read (03/03/17) that Trump's interior secretary (Ryan Zinke) had reversed a ban on LEAD ammo on national wildlife refuges as his FIRST official act! "Hunters deposit tens of thousands of tons of lead in our environment, and it is estimated that between 10 and 20 million birds and other animals-including more than 130 species-die each year from lead poisoning." And since we've known for ages that lead is a deadly toxin, why in the hell did Zinke make that his first official act?! Oh wait... now I remember... the NRA was against banning lead ammo. Silly me! I should have known that the NRA has this man by the nads as well. Sharon Shneyer, We had that happen a few years ago at the Southwest Florida Eagle nest in Ft Myers, Florida, when the eaglet known as E14 died on the nest, because her blood feathers weren't were coming in, and the blood couldn't conqulate. Her body went to a wildlife hospital, and then over to the University of Georgia for further testing where several types of poisons were found in the eaglets body. Forgive me if this is somewhat incorrect as it's been a few seasons.

All baby eagles are identified by numbers and where the location is. So DN means Decorah North.. the number is the number of the eaglet that has hatched there since the nest has been watched. Down in Florida the eagle that has been watched is E9, because it is now just Eagle and itis the 9th baby to come out of that nest since it has been observed. So, when you see letters, it signifies a nest in a certain location and then the number is the eagle number. Hope that helps.

@@RiskRule Just to make it clear - I do not support what Gabriel commented at all. I'm truly tired of seeing people expect the impossible in situations like this. I would ask them why THEY aren't doing something more proactive to "save" wildlife besides simply shouting from their armchair. I love wildlife and more specifically birds of prey - but I also know that things like this happen and often intervention is not possible. When it's possible every effort is made. In this case no one can say when or if an eagle snared a poisoned rodent and brought it to their young to eat as well. By the time they show symptoms it's often too late to save them. Otherwise the ones accusing people of being heartless need to start up some organization and go out into the wilderness and DO something.
