Matt Johnson of On Target Living runs a time 1-mile run. His goal was to run a 4:59, but the weather was a little too cold and the 20m MPH winds didn't help. This was part of a 13-week challenge goal. He did 26 pull-ups, 225 on the bench 12 times, shot 73 in his first round of golf and much more. For more information on how he trains go to www.ontargetliving.com

My best time on the road, was 4-41, on a very accurate carefully measured course for an annual 10k race in South Wales, when i was 34. I wish i had tested myself on the track, as that year, i can remember just beating the hour for a very flat 10miler in Newport. I am sure had i had more experienced pacemakers on the track, that i could have lowered the time by around 10sec or so, but now that i am 54, i can just about comfortably run at 8minute pace, but can still manage close to 7minutes if i go all out.

My name is Steve Ethridge, class of 1962 Cazenovia High School, I only had enough energy to concentrate on doing two things in my life well. One was running, and since there was not two mile run back then, I focused on the mile run. My goal was to break 5:00 minutes and I DID IT in the s l o w heat of the sectionals. My time was 4:58! In the cross country, however, which was closer to two miles, I , who call myself America's Teacher, I got 26 in the NEW YORK STATE MEET AS W E S T P O I N T ! Now I am going to break the world record for the mile runs by Ed Whitlock for 75 and 85! - steve the slow machine to the FAST MACHINE.

How can you listen to music while you try a 5 minute mile? The pace is too fast to be matched by any song tempo. Take out the headphones, give the watch to your friends so they can call out your splits and you don't have to waste time looking at your wrist. Throw in someone to compete with you in the last half mile. Do all these things and you will run a 5 minute mile.

Very impressive, given all the things that were done wrong! That looked like 4 x 400m laps which is 9.34m short of a mile. If you're going to say you're going to run a mile, run a frigging mile, not 1600m! It seems almost all Americans posting this test on YT do this. Anyway, apart from that little gripe, if he sheds the excess clothing weight, and gets down to vest and shorts, and loses the headphones and music player, picks a decent day, and CONCENTRATES, he could knock 30 seconds off that time, EASILY.

We round up da 27 feet because its like pennies compared to the 5280 of a mile, calling a 1600 a mile is pretty reasonable imo but idk you do you ig

@aferny762

Julia, the only way to get better is to train with consistency. If your in middle school or highschool join the cross country team, coaches take in even the slowest runners. milage will make you feel less pain when you run so up the milage and run a slow pace, you'll see improvement

Very good run, you started out too fast...secret to mile, run the first lap as your slowest(third lap may be as slow, depending on how you feel), save that last lap and blast it, should be your fastest: your splits: 1:15, 1:22, 1:29, 1:25...try this: 1:19, 1:18,1:20, 1:14..gives you a 5:11, and then you can work down from there. However, very good mile, excellent!
@TheManny20020
@TheManny20020 9 жыл бұрын
Your first lap should be run on pace for goal time second lap is typically a second or two slower. The third lap is where most people slow down but if you wish to obtain your goal time you must continue to push hard to keep up pace and lastly give it all you have on the final lap
