PS:The Problem is that Prime has too many Trucks!

They hire at least 25 people every week… either people are quitting prime or they have enough trucks for people to lease and make the Prime payment’s.
@BriskyJam
@BriskyJam 27 күн бұрын
@@rhett5914I can confirm that Prime consistently hires new people every week. That’s because not only does Prime profit the most from new drivers but they also lose a lot of drivers after year 1-3. Just like any Huge company turnover rate will be higher but with Prime specifically most people get their experience then dip

That doesn’t make sense. Prime takes a 28% cut so why wouldn’t they want each truck to gross as much as possible. Prime has too many expenses to Only care about people paying their trucks off without profit
@71torinoman
@71torinoman 27 күн бұрын
@@BriskyJam you're not paying a truck off and keeping it with Prime. Well, most are not. What's really happening is with their ridiculously high "lease" payments by the end of a 3yr contract you've literally paid the truck off for them. It's simple math. Then they take that truck in at the terminal or the dealership they own and they charge your escrow to repair every little thing they can find and also pay for a new set of tires with your money to maximize their profit when they put it out on their lot and sell it again in the used truck market for another $80,000 or so. They could care less about how much you take home as long as they generate enough revenue to the truck to make the payments on everything. They're making more money in the truck market than the freight market. That's why they own dealerships. Most companies also discourage you from buying the truck that you've already paid off by the end of the lease by not offering any kind of financing assistance because they don't want you to ever own the truck they just want you to pay for it. The average truck pymnt these days is normally $2,000 all the way up to around $3,000 depending on the make and new or used. How do they justify leasing you a truck for 2 to 3 times that amnt? It's a ripoff. Leases are the worst deals in the trucking industry.

I feel pretty fortunate where I am as a company driver during this downturn. I run with a small fleet of 30 trucks & the owner months back implemented a $1500 guarantee if we run 6 days a week. That leaves a 34 each week & where freight is slow, were not running very hard. Many weeks I still run above the guarantee. Home time weeks is where its hurting some times. I'm home every 7-10 days & if it plays out right like this past week, I got nearly 3 days off at the house & still hit that guarantee. Stay safe out there, market will come back around.

I was overseeing 100s of drivers and multiple brands with parent company. We had a self pricing system for are direct customers. When we needed to bring a different carrier we accounted for that all ready in our direct freight system. So any load could have been brokerd out without raising our customers freight. But what ever the load board suggests the freight needs to be moved is what we paid. There are guys who are running 4500 miles a week running dedicated freight. It's not common at PRIME and other mega carriers. Buuuut any company that runs dedicated FedEx loads.. Best believe there is a handful of runners that will run 4500 to 5k miles.. At the end of their week which would be about 3800 miles. They ask for more freight.. and they get what they ask for.. Simple. Yes the rate and SOME freight is down, but damn I hate to say it. Prime is one of those like many mega carriers that will have a person really blinded and not seeing the full scale of the industry.. A company thats had the same customers for FOREVER running the same freight... No dedicated routes... just a bunch of short-term contracts constantly being renewed. There are other places with lease purchase and lease programs that actually make sense. Pay that Pete off and get the heck outta dodge. Im pretty sure you and your lady would enjoy dedicated team freight, easily making 10-15 to the truck.

Freight is low for sure, however the only drivers really see making videos about extremely low freight is Prime drivers. And let’s just be honest Prime is brokering there loads to outside carriers while making sure their lease ops can make their truck payments. So here try this, Prime claims to be a transparent company right? So go ask whomever you need to about how many total loads they had last month, how many they brokered to outside carriers and for the numbers! And don’t think that just because it’s not in a prime trailer, that it’s not a prime load that they could have given to you. Prime is transparent right up to the sales office door and when it comes to numbers….then no so much transparency anymore I know for a fact this happens BTW

The real problem is right there in the numbers man. My question is how on Gods green earth are your expenses $3,799.28 in one week? Ill tell you how.. Prime Inc. I ran dry freight from Sugarland, TX up to Auburn, WA last week. Light load less than 5,000lbs. Paid $5,550.00 on 2,350mi My costs were 1,395.00 fuel and like $120 for a 2 way permit thru Oregon. I am not paying the $2,000 bond for Oregon since I dont go up into that area enough to justify that cost. That left a net take home of $3,887.00. And thats a terrible week in trucking but pretty much average for the last 2 years or so. Take it from a guy who did the Prime thing 20yrs ago. Its a massive ripoff. Im not trying to criticize you and your wife. I was a newer driver maby 3 or 4 yrs when I gave Prime a try. Probably like you just tryin to figure out how to make more money for my family. I cant knock you for that but just look at your numbers. If Im looking at 1 weeks revenue and expenses they've gotten even worse than they used to be. We had pretty similar weeks on the total revenue and miles. Looks like I actually ran about 450mi less so there can be no other explanation in the discrepancy between your net and mine other than its simply a bad deal. I didnt hate Prime I just figured out how to get my hands on my own truck and trailer so I went thru the process when I left. Gave em 2 weeks notice, the whole thing. Returned a 3mo old truck that still smelled brand new inside. Not a blemish on it inside or out. In return Prime Inc claimed I owed them $8,000 for "damages and repairs" including a fuĺl set of new tires on a brand new truck. Told em Im not paying it and they turned it over to a collection agency that hounded me and anyone they could find in my family for like 4yrs. I did nothing to these people but work my butt off. Paid off one lease too. This was on the 2nd lease. These are not the good people you think they are. Im always rooting for the guys/gals in the truck that make it all happen. Again not criticizing but you should do yourself a favor and find a way to get your own thing going. You dont need Prime to run your own business and make ALOT more money even in this terrible market. Most of what they do and charge you for you can do yourself for free. Once you get your own authority and insurance etc you figure out its really not all that mysterious and difficult to run a one truck operation. I dropped out of school and went to work at 14yrs old. If I can figure it out anyone can. Im no genius. These trucking companies that started developing these lease deals yrs ago are not interested in your success man. They implemented these programs because they figured out it makes THEM more money. Good luck out there and I hope it gets better for you and your wife. Keep the dirty side down and be safe.
