**This higher end model gets you a much better kids scooter**
TL/DR: This scooter has the features you need to make a kids scooter a lot of fun, you really need to get this as an upgrade to the basic models.
Pros:
o Handlebar accelerator control
o Three different max speed settings
o Fun deck lighting system
o Bluetooth audio
o Three position adjustable handlebar stack
o Kickstand
o Folds up very nicely
Cons:
o A little pricey
o No hand brake
This review covers two identical versions of the SmooSat E9 scooter. It comes in two flavors, one pink and the other black and gold, presumably aimed at girls and boys by color. They are otherwise identical.
I've been frustrated by a bunch of basic kids electric scooters. They typically don't have actual controls for turning on the motor, you are supposed to push to start and then hope the motor comes on automatically. If the scooter has multiple speeds, the methods to change speeds are just as inscrutable. On one you were just supposed to kick it up faster, on another you double tapped the brakes. This was all very frustrating because it was hard to tell if things even worked or not.
In a big improvement, this scooter has an accelerator control like you would see on an adult scooter. The acceleration is controlled by a hand lever, very easy to use for even the youngest kids. It's easy to change it from the slow to medium to fast settings. Little kids will probably need to keep it on the slowest setting, but your older kids will love getting it up to 10 mph - WITH HELMETS and PADS OF COURSE!!!
The lights on the deck are a bonus, although they are a little hard to see in full daylight. If you are running on a cloudy day or closer to sundown these will really snazz up the experience.
The bluetooth speaker is just a surprise, I don't really even see this as something useful for a scooter, but my 10 year old tester took to it right away and was rocking out while driving around with my iPhone in his back pocket. He loved it.
I liked this scooter so much I'm getting two, and they are going to be under the Christmas tree this year. I am 100% confident they will be the gift these kids remember for a long time.
