Tighter group is more important, so depends on your rifle and the rounds. You can always move the point of impact by sight adjustment.

I like Frontier (Hornady) ammunition. This is my go to when available at a good price. I use 62g FMJ, 68g BTHP, and 75g BTHP in both my 5.56 10.5” JAKL and 16” DDM4V7LW. They both have 1:7 twist rates. The JAKL likes 62g, the Daniel Defense likes 68-75 grain. Tight groups, not too many flyers. Good video. Thank you

With this same ammo (55grn) I have been able to shoot .5” groups at 50 yd and 2” groups at 200 consistently. Something may be wrong with your gun if you can’t even get under an inch at 50.

Multiple things. The twist rate changes the accuracy on different length barrels. Also a warm barrel vs a cold barrel can make a difference. You also are shooting with just a rest, a lot of room for fluctuation from the user

I like the Hornady Frontier stuff but I've found the 62 grain stuff to be kinda meh in the accuracy department. Not terrible, but just not as good as the 55 gr.

windage grouping is more important than elevation grouping...the 62gr had a better windage grouping...for just a 10 rnd sampling for each and only at 50 yds.

If your rounds are going up and down pattern that’s your breathing. So I would say even at 50 yards it’s a dead one tie. 55 and 62 Ballistically are close together that they will almost will shoot the same way. 62 is preferred because of its slightly higher bullet cofficiency. So what does that mean? It means if you plan shooting 300 yards or less go 55 if you plan on going 500 or less go 62.
@direct_infringement6614
@direct_infringement6614 Жыл бұрын
Point of impact was significant enough between the two to show that it’s more than just “breathing.” I do appreciate your input but you failed to take barrel twist into consideration.
@ryuhadouken2722
@ryuhadouken2722 Жыл бұрын
@@direct_infringement6614 1/7 twist favors heavier grain. No where did I say your a bad shooter, but a string of bullet impacts that go vertical is breathing. Perfect example of barrel twist is the military arms channel of bullet stabilization and velocity shooting even at 25 meters. He too uses different barrel twists, barrel lengths, and different grain weights.

Well for me the 62 was more accurate, I would just need to zero my rifle for it to tighten my point of impact. It really varies rifle to rifle. Generally with 1:7 twists, heavier match bullets are the way to go.

Depends on your twist rate and what you plan on doing. I typically buy 55g bc it’s cheaper just for shooting steel, even though 62 is more accurate from my weapon.

@@direct_infringement6614 yeah I know , I figured there would be no problem with 62 grain green tips at outside ranges but guess what , it is not well Received by many ranges in Texas where I live lol 😂 go figure. I think I’ll just get a couple boxes of 55s To keep things uniform. I have a 1:7 16 inch heavy barrel with a mid length gas, full 15 in m lol free floated . To be honest I wish I would have just gone with the old set up with a carry handle and standard front sight and full length gas system .

Does the 55-grain Frontier 5.56 ammo still damage rifles? All I have read over the internet has been that they will literally destroy your rifle. Granted a lot of those comments are from 3+ years ago but I haven't found anything that says otherwise either.
@direct_infringement6614
@direct_infringement6614 8 ай бұрын
I’ve never heard of that before. I don’t think they would be able to safely sell it, if it was severely damaging rifles. Sometimes ammo manufacturers have a bad lot. I’ve had no issues with running it personally.

So I have a rifle chambered in 5.56 and .223, but I haven't taken it to the range yet. I noticed you have earplugs in, which is what I use when I shoot pistols at the range. Indoors, to me it can get much louder. I have a question.....Do your ears hurt even though you have the earplugs in after firing 5.56?? 5.56 outdoors has to be much louder than .380acp, 9mm, 40S&W, and 45acp indoors.........right??? Or no?? I'd like to know before I go to the range and find out the hard way. I'm 39yrs old, and my hearing seems like it's getting sensitive. I think.....I don't know. 🤷‍♂️

They make a lot of great options for ear protection nowadays. Maybe look into the electronic ones if you have sensitive ears. These seem to work fine for me while the larger ones sometimes get pushed off my head by my stock placement and expose my ears while shooting.
