I had a Geissele on my last AR and it was great no doubt. But this time I wanted to save just a little bit and heard really good things about Larue. I just got one for my MK18. I can’t wait to try it out. That DD mil-spec trigger is heavyyyy.

Excellent points - especially the unintended double taps from the Geissele triggers. I have not had any of them break but the double tap is a thing - especially on rifles with recoil - like a SCAR or AR 10 platform. I’ve bought a LaRue trigger and plan to install it soon.

My opinion is the LaRue is the best value in triggers right now. I have an SSA, SSA-E, and an MBT. The MBT is between the SSA and the SSA-E in terms of feel and to be honest extremely close to the SSA-E in feel. I am considering selling all my Geisseles and replacing them with MBT's for consistency in pull. I spend a lot of time doing dry fire practice using a Mantis black beard and because I have the SSA-E in an AR10 platform the mantis does not work with it and I don't do much dry fire with it. The muscle memory from the heavier triggers caused a bit of a training scar when switching to the lighter SSA-E and twice now I have unintentionally sent the very first round down rang while prepping the first stage after switching to the AR10. The rifle was on target each time as I was prepping for the shot and no one around me knew what happened but it has REALLY bothered me that I sent rounds down range when not intending to. My temporary fix is to dry fire a few times when switching guns but I would love to make them all consistent and the LaRue's are cheap enough that I would earn some money back buying new triggers and selling the old.

Two stage is essential for Service Rifle Competition because the trigger pull weight rules at 4.5 pounds demands it, meaning shooters can preload the trigger to get smooth trigger control, as well as rapid fire pull that’s good.

The doubling (so?) with the “other” trigger happened in a pretty specific situation or circumstance: Buttstock not in shoulder. To me, this brings up a few questions. A: Did you analyzed this happening on video to rule out it being bumpfire? B: Did you let… let’s call him “Bill”, know what was happening? C: How the hell does the other trigger still have its stamp of approval from Crane?

I'm not sure, but are you saying that the reset on the two stage MBT trigger is longer because of the first stage take-up? If you want to shoot fast are you saying you have to completely decompress the trigger for it to reset? Because if that's true I see no advantage to a two stage trigger at all. I want a smooth and short take-up and a fast reset. I just want to be clear on this before I spend any money, before inflation makes it worth-less.
@asdfghjk2933
@asdfghjk2933 2 жыл бұрын
Almost every two stage trigger will require you to reset back to the first stage, though not necessarily all the way. Geissele SSA-E and SSA triggers for example do require that you completely reset back to the beginning of the first stage, while the MBT resets about halfway into the first stage. MBT definitely has a shorter reset than the Geissele 2 stages, though not as short as a single stage. The advantage of a 2 stage is that you can rest on the second stage and effectively have a much lighter pull than that of a typical single stage.
@FlamingRobzilla

@@asdfghjk2933 Thanks for your advice, though I saw it a bit too late. I decided to buy a LaRue two stage trigger. And all this seems new to me, but I'm delighted with my choice. The difference is like night and day. And to top it off it wasn't as expensive as I expected. Thanks again though. It was very nice of you. On my next build I may try the Viking single stage. Kyle seems like a very honest person, and because I'm new to this I'm inclined to default to expert advice, especially when he is willing to sing the praises of his competitors like LaRue. That kind of thing bolsters my belief in his honesty. I'd definitely buy a used car from Kyle, which is saying something. Trust.

Interesting and great stuff...just traded out of a Rise Armament RA535 single stage for their Iconic 2-stage. My 6.5 Gendel is more of a hunter slash bench princess rifle vs combat or competitive rifle. Surprised that the adaptable 2 stage Trigger Tech wasn't mentioned. Wondering if that was the one doing un-intended double fires the author is talking about. I pulled my 2 stage Trigger Tech from my 16" AR 15 and just put in in my DMR 6.5 Grendel. Love that trigger but I am not shooting competitively fast either. When the Iconic 2 stage shows up it is going back into the 16.

I mean a 5 lbs trigger is a 5lbs trigger. Quality the same, the number of stages shouldn’t matter when it comes to just shooting fast. I think two stages gives you a bit more fine control when shooting longer distance, and when needing to go fast you can’t even feel the stages. But it’s just preference at the end of the day I guess

I'm using one lower for 2 (possibly 3) different uppers, one being a 12.5" and another being a 18/20" SPR type upper. I can slap a 2-stage quickly, but I can't stack a single stage. I'm not gonna get caught up in split times, all I care to be is 'fast enough' on the carbine. Therefore I'm going with a 2-stage, and i have an MBT on the way to test out.

@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz
@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz 2 жыл бұрын
@@562handsomemike absolutely love it. I dont have any other 2 stage triggers to compare it to, and its been years since I brushed my finger over an SSA trigger so take that for what its worth. I can just slap through it for rapid fire or stage it, and even with the heavier 'duty' spring in there it's fairly light with a very crisp break. It gives me what I feel is the perfect amount of slop to avoid NDs. Its probably better to compare to a G2S (from my understanding, the SSA is still made to the military specs but is a semi auto restricted design, so some of the price of the SSA is meeting requirements like specific quality controls and number engraving stipulated in the contracts while the G2S is a commercial version and lacks some, frankly, unnessesary details) as far as quality and price, but the MBT beats it on price and hearsay is it beats the G2S on feel, but again I cant personally speak to that.

It shoots twice, quickly, instead of just the one shot you intended to make. It’s caused by the recoil of the gun, causing you to unintentionally pull the trigger again. It happens because the trigger pull of the Geiselle is so light. It’s not a trigger defect per se.

Uhmmmm i guarantee that the 2 stage doesnt matter for overall. Im far faster with a geiselle natuonal match and a geiselle 3gun trigger bcus of how the reset is done in a 2 stage. The single stages are great with breaks, but they lack the power to force a reset shot and your finger literally outruns the trigger where as the 2 stage trigger forces you to the break point and refires at that point... i may be explaining that oddly but its just what weve seen in our testing and matches

@@cavsnation831 I think you're not using trigger creep in a correct explanation here, I have two Sig AR15's and have the Sig 2 stage match trigger in both of them. The single stage trigger that came with them had trigger creep, you could feel the creep while you depressed the trigger i.e. you could feel the metal parts sliding against each other before the trigger break. With the Sig 2 stage match trigger you have the smooth take up to what is described as the "wall" and the trigger breaks smoothly at 4.75 to 5 pounds of pressure as you squeeze the trigger, both of my 2 stage triggers break at 4.75 pounds of pressure. I tend to be more on the sensitive side on my trigger feel. All triggers have take up, that is the minor amount of slack before they start to activate. My Les Baer 1911's have trigger slack, my Ed Brown 1911''s have trigger slack and my Kimber 1911 has trigger slack, but all of them break very smooth with no trigger creep.

Its the most proven , tested and used aftermarket trigger on the market. The AMU boys started using them and they migrated over to SOCOM , first by replacing the old KAC triggers in the Mk11 that were prone to failure. KAC has since fixed it and they make one of the best AR triggers on the market, albeit expensive. Larue is impossible to beat for the money, $70-80 for a fantastic 2 stage trigger, even if the shoe is a bit wide. If we want to be super real, lets talk about all the failures of Trigger Tech and their recent recall. Hundreds of PRS/precision rifle shooters have had trigger failures. In 20 years I can think of less than a handful of complaints about G triggers, and most were due to improper tuning on the adjustable ones.

I thought the failures he was referring to *was* of the KACs. I’m actually surprised that KAC makes something that fails as badly as their 2 stages, gives me flashbacks to RRA’s 2 stages 🤢

@@rifleshooterchannel208 That was an issue 20 years ago. EVERY match type trigger on the market failed at that point under hard use, which is why the G trigger changed everything. A few years later ALA 2005ish, KAC redesigned their 2 stage and it is every bit as good as every G trigger short of the the Hi Speed Match, which is still the gold standard to this day. RRA 2 stagers were the definition of failure in this time period, there just were not many options out there and they all sucked.

I was part of the Geiselle recall for double fires. Less than 150 rounds. Prefer larue.

Your statement seems to imply that Geissele triggers are having systematic issues, but I haven’t seen any credible evidence to support that claim. For context, Geissele triggers are trusted and widely used not only by competitive shooters but also by professional end-users, including military and law enforcement units. Geissele’s Super Select-Fire (SSF) trigger, for example, was specifically developed for U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM), which is a testament to their reliability and durability. If there were systemic failures, they wouldn’t be trusted in such high-stakes environments. I’ve personally shot over 50,000 rounds through my setups, which include Geissele’s National Match Hi-Speed Trigger and SSA-E, and I haven’t encountered a single issue. That’s consistent with the experiences of countless others who rely on Geissele products. To put things into perspective, I had a friend experience a failure with your flat-face trigger during a 3-Gun match. Does that single anecdote mean your triggers are unreliable or worse than the competition? Of course not. Individual issues can happen, but that doesn’t equate to systemic problems. Until credible evidence is presented, it’s unfair and misleading to try and tarnish the reputation of a company that has consistently delivered products trusted at the highest levels.

Always. Find a place to pre order. Buy extra and sell a couple to someone who can’t/won’t wait. Most gun shops have them for $100-140, for folks that don’t plan ahead. Brutal!
