It is weird to me that IMI didn't match the length of the handguard to the length of the gas tube's rail. Those two inches would make a huge difference.

first thing you leaned at the IDF when they were issued. Also using the gas tube to open the hand-guard locking lever. Oh, also to bang the stock on the shoulder to close it.... and the upturned charging handle was a great idea when lying prone or when charging on the go
@yechielml
@yechielml 3 жыл бұрын
@inrangetv Karl, if I can give you a tip on the Galil charging handle: you cup it from the front with the outside of your left palm (the part below the pinkie) and jerk back. You release it for the forward return if you are charging the rifle, or just follow along if you are clearing it. I did that for a few years on a daily basis when I carried one, and it is very comfortable once you get used to it.

The Midwest Industries MLOK rail absolutely transformed mine. Though i still primarily run an AR, i find mine to be an excellent, something different, option. Accuracy is good, nothing stellar. Does shoot PPU M80 quite well, which is nice. Great trigger, very reasonable weight, it just plain hasnt given me any problems. One thing i will mention, though not sure if it is a widespread issue, but it does not like Lancer L7s. They drop free under recoil.

A Very Disappointed Red Engineer I’m supposing you meant aesthetic? Lol to each his own, I’m not a fan of a black rifle with just a bunch of tactical rails and attachments cuz basically all modern platform rifle boil down to that now. It’s like most bolt action during ww1 they were all pretty much the same except for some different kinds of bolt handles. I like the OG Galil because it doesn’t really look like any other gun. Like it obviously has the AK style receiver but every other thing like the bipod, fore end, giant 35 round mag, and folding stock are so iconic to me.

Also, if you want to add the MI extended rail on the .308, use the one designed for the 5.56 variant. The MI extended rail for the .30 cal version does not work on the .308 ACE. Just got my golani with the bipod last week, haven't had the time to shoot it but I can't wait to test it out. Also, is it possible to use the galil ace gas tube on the original to use optics?

There are rails specially made for galil, B&T makes one for example.

@@hoone1236 thanks for the info, I would normally try to find a gastube as it doesn't ruin much of the original look but if push comes to shove, I'd get the railed handguard and remove the bipod and original handguard

11:05...not quite. The Galil ACE was developed as a military rifle (not as a civilian rifle) and multiple countries have adopted it. They started offering it to the US civilian market years after it had already been adopted as a military rifle in other countries.
