the sniffer probably hatched but didnt grow because outside around the spawn chunks there is a ring of lazy chunks where blocks (the eggs id suppose) are processed but not entities, so once it hatched it wasnt processed no more

Basically, the first enchantment of any minecraft world is always the same. Looting 2 for swords and channeling for trident are the most notable. However, saving and quitting makes it random. You lose that guaranteed looting 2. Feinberg's problem was that he was trying to use the pie to locate end gateways, but in these more recent versions it bugs out. You can fix the pie by save and quit, but he'd lose the enchantment. The issue was further compounded because he lowered the gamma so he could more easily see the gateways, but the only way to increase the gamma back to 500% was in the main menu. He uses a mod for that, and the mod is only allowed under certain conditions, including being unable to change past vanilla settings while the world is loaded. So he had to wait to enchant to fix the pie bug and increase his gamma back up to 500%.
