5.7x28 VS 9mm Part 1: Clay Blocks

There has been a debate on whether the 5.7x28 is an option for self defense with a pistol. This video we compare the 5.7 to the 9mm and see what the two of them do to 25lbs of clay.

Those follow up shots though, even if its slightly less than 9mm, the sheer amount of volume is crazy, and as you say it's not anything to sneeze at. 1 decently placed shot can be fatal.

With clay use one shot, multiple shot is all on shot placement to push the narrative you want.

You can still get a good idea on how much damage is being done on the first shot but I get what you’re saying. In the next video I will shot it separately and show the first shots as well as multiple.

These clay tests look more interesting than gel tests

I prefer the clay over the gel. It seems to give a better indication of how much energy a cartridge has on a soft yet solid object.

People forget there is a reason NATO created this round. A bullet with half the recoil, higher capacity and just as lethal as the 9mm..... oh , and by the way there are special armor piercing rounds that can be shot from a handgun (no 9mm can do that). It may not shatter cinder blocks - but it tumbles & dumps its energy when it hits soft tissue. Sounds deadly to me.

price and ammo availability makes the choice not the capability.. NATO 9x19mm Parabellum for the win.

defensive ammo cost the same. And hell when I trained with cheap 9mm, I go to the 5.7 and it feels like a ray gun by comparison.
