Father , I am from India. Despite being born a catholic and bought up in a very strong catholical environment and household and having a very strong catholical ancestral roots in my family , I wasn't much interested in catholism. My focus and interest was shifted to other religions and denominations in Christianity to know the way they are different from us and the impeccablity of difference in beliefs in us and them. Only after watching ur channel videos I realized the beauty of my religion and my church as being the holy apostolic church founded by Christ himself through Peter. Only after watching your videos I gained a strength in my religion and become more interested in performing my religious duties as a member of the Catholic church. Thank you for inspiring us to embrace the beauty of catholism . Do continue your service for the glory of God by posting many videos like this and strengthing our faith in the Catholic church. It is only by your videos that I realized that our church is the very continuation of the church our Lord has established himself and not formed because of heretical movement protesting against and dividing the very Church , Christ has founded. Even now I don't know whether you will see this message or will reply to this message, but I felt that it is my duty to express my Thanks and gratitude to bring this 19yr old teenage sinner back to his home , and strengthing his faith in his holy family. There is a movie about St. Augustine. It is called "Restless Heart: The Confessions of St. Augustine." It came out in 2010 and stars Franco Nero. It is an amazing film that also features St. Monica and St. Ambrose. Also, I would love to see a movie about St. Margaret of Scotland, who was related to Edward the Confessor. Imagine a scene where she and her family have to flee as William the Conqueror is heading towards their home in 1066, and they have to board a boat, eventually arriving in the court of King Malcolm of Scotland. That would be quite something.

Restless Heart is an ok movie. I wouldn't say it was amazing. It was kind of like one of those "God's Not Dead," lots of great information, but lacked good cinematic quality. Restless Heart is good for learning about some of the heresies during that time, but the movie dragged a bit in many parts. I do like the Margaret of Scotland idea. That would be an amazing movie. There are so many great Catholic political leaders in Church History who need their own movies. 20th century had a lot of holy Catholic political leaders.

I would love to see the remaining Narnia books turned into films. Disney made The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian about 20 years ago and did a pretty good job (that was before they went woke). An independent company made The Voyage of the Dawn Treader using the same actors, which in my opinion was really excellent (even though it does diverge from the book in places). It would be nice if a Christian company could do The Silver Chair and The Last Battle, maybe even The Horse and his Boy and the Magician's Nephew. There's a lot of very deep and profound theology (and philosophy) in them.

Forcible deportations, underground church life under the oppressive Soviet government, and amazing acts of faith which preserved the Church here into the modern era even after decades without legal worship and normal church structures in many places. The main barrier is that many of these memoirs and lives are hidden behind the Russian language.

While I realize you chose saints who had major changes in their lives, I was surprised that (1) you left out St. Francis (who has been for me a perfect role model ever since my childhood as well as my favorite and most inspirational saint and (2) Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Both of them were incredibly influential in building the church and bringing about what eventually became the faith we live today while dealing with multiple forces that worked against them. For your (and your followers') information, I have just finished--and published--a book called VIRGIN MOTHER. Unlike many books about Mary, this one has Mary telling her own story--from the day the Angel appeared to her and let her know God had chosen her to birth the long-awaited Messiah to the day she watched her resurrected son ascend to heaven. Throughout her story you learn about her relationship with Joseph--and why he chose her as his wife, what it was like to raise the child she gave birth to and how she dealt with knowing he was the Son of God even as he matured to manhood, what emotional pain she went through at the foot of the cross as her son slowly bled to death before her eyes, and, most of all, how the Holy Spirit transformed not only her life but also the lives of the disciples and the lives of so many Christians since then. Personally I think it should be one of the films included in your list of those that should be made. The book is available on Amazon (under the Kindle department) in both paperback and eBook formats. My parish priest as well as our bishop have declared it a book everyone should read. I hope you (and your followers) will check it out. God bless all of you.

Awesome video! Yes, about the kings! I read the Bible following the Bible in a Year podcast, and all through the Old Testament I kept picturing everything that happened and thinking, "Ooh, this should be made into a movie. What a roller coaster! Hollywood has nothing on this." Beyond that, he relationship between the Old and New Testaments was eye-opening. And I agree with you that it should be something different than the "heavy on the wholesome...telling sappy stories." To me, a good story includes ups and downs that draw a huge range of emotions. I could go on and on, but to be brief, i would add that it would be great to see many of the themes from the New Testament come to life on film. Yes, the Bible is the Word of God, and it deserves respect. But after reading the Bible from cover to cover, I regret not taking a class offered at my college called The Bible as Literature to study it more. Yes, St. Augustine and St. Monica. Yes, the voices of women and not like the cheap ways women are portrayed on film.

Thank you for for your channel and your wonderful talks, Fr. Casey. What about two Carmelite movies. The life of Fr. Jerome Gracien OCD. and Fr. Hermann Cohen OCD. Both have inspirational life stories. Fr. Jerome Gracien had an interesting upbringing. His parents and grandparents lives were also interesting. Fr. Jerome Gracien lived at the time of St. Teresa of Avila and was part of the Carmelite reform. After St. Teresa's death there were so many difficulties he had to face including being kidnapped by pirates and sold by auction into slavery. The tremendous suffering he went through before a Jewish man bought his freedom. He travelled to various places and ended up being rejected by his order and being told to join the Carmelite Order. Though he pleaded for his Discalced Carmelite habit back it never happened. He died in Belgium in the Order of Carmel. Following a meeting it was decided by the Discalced Carmelites to welcome him back into the reform order. Potentially 300 years after his death. Fr. Herman Cohen was the star of his day. Born Jewish and a talented musician who toured performing. He was the protege of Franz Lizt (who close to the end of his life converted.) Hermann was a gambler also. On his conversion into the catholic church he had to return to touring, performing at concerts to this time to pay off his gambling debts as he could not enter the Discalced Carmelites in debt. Not allowed. He finally entered in France and his spiritual Director was Fr. Charles Henri Lacordaire, (the one who brought the Dominican order back to France). Fr. Hermann also knew George Sand, the author, whom he met years later. Fr. Hermann also met Blessed Frederick Ozaman, founder of the SVP, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and met the real poor in France. The Pope sent him yo England to take the Carmelite Order to London. He founded Kensington Priory and asked the sisters, the second order to found their monastery at Nottinv Hill. He went back to France and set up a retreat. He went to Lourdes and at that tome was in need of surgery as he was going blind but he went to Lourdes and is one of the official cures. What 10:04 extremely interesting lives they both led. Well worth great movies. I would also suggest the Books of Ruth and Tobit. All would make great movies.

Hollywood is hellbent on creating stories that extoll the virtues of female heroism, and they all fall flat because they try to force fit the heroine into a masculine motif. That is why the best story of a heroic female that I have seen this year was Cabrini. Mother Cabrini, the titular character, didn't display heroism by being brash, stoic, using military strategy, or imposing herself physically. Rather, she used the power of her maternal warmth to surmount seemingly insurmountable odds to serve the people. She is far more inspiring than all the superheroines produced by Marvel, who are nothing more than poor facsimiles of male archetypes.

Call me weird, but I can imagine a movie about the tragedy that occurred in the final chapters of judges. The Levite and his concubine, starting with them leaving hospitality (with a foreboding send off), then the tragedy in Gibeon, the arising of Israel against Benjamin in warfare, the conclusion of that warfare, the methods used to repopulate, and ending with the common refrain “in those days there was no king, everyone did what was right in his own eyes,” to show the utter depravity and brokenness of sinful human nature (but also some light at the end), an important rebuttal to much of entertainment today that upholds “be true to yourself.”

I imagine it like the crowd pressing up on the guest house, a slow motion of the Levite throwing out his own concubine, we perhaps hear the screams throughout the night as the Levite tries to sleep until eventually the screams die down, don’t show anything sexually explicit, and in the morning we see the bruised woman limping and crawling up to the door, the Levite opens the door just as she gets there but dies anyway, perhaps an internal monologue about him being her only place of refuge but when she sees his face she remembers he threw her out and so she gives up on life. So plenty of tragedy but there are ways of hiding while implying the explicit stuff.

Too many movies (including ones with Christian themes) are made by actors, directors, and studios who are only interested in how much money they will make. What is needed are people who are dedicated to getting the message of Christ portrayed to humanity. To do that well, the writer, director, actors--in fact the whole production team--need to have a clear understanding of the importance of the story--and then bring it to life in a way people can relate to it. It HAS to be more than just entertainment.

Just saw a video titled "Why I hate Catholicism" by Pastor Bruce Mejia. I would love to see your reaction to this video. It is quite shocking. Not a Catholic yet but hopefully I will be in due time! Thanks for all you do!

The Kings as a TV show. Every season a new king, show what shapes the next king as a child while their father is on the throne. I’d watch it, I’d binge it.

I don't know if this already exists, but movies about the Reconquesta would be fire!

I would like to see some of the novels of Charles Williams filmed. Some couldn't be - too much happening internally, but some could be done. Urban Fantasy. (OK, the stories were based in the 30's and 40's, and All Hallows Eve is set amid the rebuilding of London after the war, so urban of 80 years ago, but they still make Sherlock Holmes stories set in Victorian age.)

3:00 There's actually a St. Augustine movie on KZbin that my teacher made us to watch. Augustine is a major figure in the school's teachings so every year we celebrate his feast day. I think it's worth watching and I'm curious about your review on it :DD

The very first one. I’ve often told my friends that if HBO did kings, or 1st and 2nd Samuel, or anything in that, it would be like GoT but real. I think something like this needs to be a show, a high budget, long format, multi season show. 100% would watch, as a fan of GoT and HotD the potential for the depictions of the brutality, but also the grace and forgiveness God offers, it would fill a void in that sphere that has not been filled elsewhere

We definitely need movies about real people rich in plots and story lines, lots of drama, action and at the end the good guys or ladies save the day

I love all the ideas, but especially St. Augustine (would be helpful to people in RCIA who don’t know anything about the heresies). And St. Catherine of Sienna. In addition to Angel Studios, the History Channel might be able to make some of these films.

The Last Stand of the Swiss Army Guards protecting and saving the Pope would be a great movie. Also, a movie of King Baldwin the Leper. Kingdom of Heaven was a good movie and Edward Norton was great but I needed more on Baldwin esp his victory at the age of 16.

I'm a Hungarian and even I never heard of those two Franciscans. We learned in school about a Dominican called Friar Julian, who warned the king about the Mongols, but this other story is truly fascinating! We learned how the Mongols pillaged our country after winning the battle of Muhi (one of my ancestors fought in that battle), how they abruptly left when the great khan died and how our King Béla used this opportunity to upgrade the country's defence lines and thus saving the nation (he is literally called the Second Founding Father of Hungary - our fist king Saint Stephen being the first). But I always wondered what or rather who gave the young and until that time quite unpopular king the idea... I guess this movie would finally give the answer.

Fr. Casey. I humbly ask for you to please make a video adressing Fr. Pat. It was your priests react videos and then Fr. Pat with his livestream that brought me to the Catholic church and being open minded to religion for the first time in my life. And now, with silence.. I can only assume the worst and all my old thoughts about the church are coming back. I havent attended mass since I found out about this. I question my decision to go. If not a video.. maybe find a way to contact me. Reply to the comment or whatever. I do believe you are still a good priest and a good man.. and you are probably more devastated by this than I was. Sorry for bringing it into your mind if you ever read this. God bless

In addition to those you've already mentioned, I'd like to see films/limited series on the biblical books of Jonah, Job, Judith & 1 & 2 Maccabees; - St. Charles Lwanga & the Martyrs of Uganda - the Suppression & Restoration of the Jesuits - St. Josephine Bakhita - the Martyrs of Compiègne & of Orange, a combined total of ~50 female religious martyred in July 1794 during the French Revolution. - Venerable Augustus Tolton/Mother Mary Lange & the Oblate Sisters of Providence - the Church in Roman Africa (from the time of St. Justin Martyr to St. Augustine's death around the Vandal invasions).

I would love to see a movie about St. Columba of Iona, is mission in Scotland and England and his strife with the Vatican. The wider discussion at the time on whether the Vatican should be the authority of Catholicism; the power if Ireland as a rival centre of Catholicism, abbeys and monasteries seeking to remain free of centralised authority. But I am Irish, so my wish and even my description above is probably skewed Irish :D

NBC had a shortlived series called Kings based on the Book of Kings but set in the modern day. I never watched it but heard it was good if not faithful.

The Kings of Israel sounds very appealing! I know its not religious, yet, the idea reminds me of the Medici seasons on Netflix that looks at the family on 3 or so generations.
