5 Advent Wreath DIY on a TIGHT budget! Most of them from DOLLAR TREE!

I love the Advent wreath. When I was about nine years old my mom was taking college courses and had to leave me with a neighbor. The neighbor was putting away her dishes and invited me to join her in the dinning room. There on the table was a wreath with four candles. My neighbor turned and found me looking at the wreath. She asked if I knew what it was and when I said no she said it was an Advent wreath. She went on to explain the Advent wreath to me. When I went home I told my mom about it and asked if we could have one on our table. She said no. I asked why not and she said, "Because it isn't our custom." Her answer puzzled me but I dropped the subject. Years later, when my own daughter was three, I attended a women's holiday seminar at the church I was attending. The packet of handouts we were given had something about the Advent Wreath in it. As soon as the speaker was introduced I had that sheet out and took as many notes on the Advent wreath as I could. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, absorbing every word she said. I rushed to a local discount store and bought a plastic wreath, four and four white candles and one Red one. I wanted our wreath to look just like the one I had seen sitting on our neighbor's table. That night we celebrated the Advent wreath for the first time. My daughter's eyes were as big as saucers as she looked at the wreath and listened to scriptures from the old and new testament and watched the glow of the first candle of Advent burn brightly on OUR Advent wreath. The Advent Wreath is now a part of our family tradition. It all started fifty-six years ago when a neighbor explained what her beautiful wreath with candles meant. She planted a seed in my heart that grew and lives on in my daughter's heart to this day.

Hi Heather, Happy Advent...I Found Out How To Make The Long Candles Stand Up In The Glass Candle Holders...Before You Put Them In, Take A Match Or Candle Lighter(The Kind By Bic), And Melt The Candle Wax At The Bottom Of The Candle, And Let It Drip Into The Cup Of The Candle Holder, For About A Few Seconds, Until The Candle Holder Is About Half Way Full Of Liquid Wax, Then Place The Candle Inside The Candle Holder, And Hold It Until The Wax Is Firm. The Candles Will Stay Nice And Straight, Until You're Ready To Remove Them!!!

This year I got lucky and I did find the purple as well as the pink candles in the tall glass containers, at my local Dollar Tree. I picked up a round metal wreath form and 2 pack of green garland. I went to my local ARC thrift store to look for some other Christmas decorations, and happened upon a big bag of Christmas floral and etc. for only $1.50. All in all my Advent wreath cost me less than $10 to make. Just a side note: In the past when I couldn't find purple and pink candles, I simply melted down 4 white ones. I then added a "tiny" drop of red food coloring to one of the candles to create the pink. I then added 1 drop of red and 1 drop of blue food coloring to the other 3 candles to create the purple candles. I let them harden up overnight, and I was good to go

Beautiful ideas for the advent wreaths on the last one with the tall all white candles those are so beautiful you could even get pink ribbon and purple ribbon and just tie it to the middle or lower part of the candle and just make them kind of stream over the wreath love your videos God bless you and your family♥️💙🙏🏻

Here in Asia especially Philippines, the only christian dominated country we call it Advent crown. Most Churches like Methodist and Roman Catholic decorated the Altar with those candles but people dont put it inside their houses as part of their decorations. Im so amaze of how Europeans and Americans put so much effort in preserving this custom.❤❤

I am in Canada and found Advent candles from the Vermont Christmas co off Amazon. It says the candles are made in the USA. Thanks for the ideas…I am a craddle catholic but it will be our first year doing an advent wreath; I am now 36 married with 8 kids. It can feel overwhelming when you have no clue what you are doing.

Hello, This year I started to put Advent Candle actually yesterday❤. I'm curious about this decor because it has a deeper meaning. Most people in my country don't put it inside their home. It's just a church custom. My sister asked me "what's that???" Then I told her just a decoration haha😂.

Such good ideas! You could buy the poster stickers at Dollar Tree and spell out the words for each candle on the plain white ones! Or get ribbon.

Hi. I watch sometimes your videos. Because of your Advent video, I started thinking more on it now. Before, I wouldn’t know when it was until it happened. I was thinking as I was reading a book, you mentioned you were going to read Gospel of Luke during the Advent. I decided to do the same because on my birthday, one of mom friend had given me a small book on Luke. I thought it was the perfect time to read it along with the Gospel. I wanted to ask you, if you have the time, are you able to make videos during Advent on the Luke’s Gospel? Each day a new video? I know you have a big family and are quite busy. I strongly recommend not buying cheap candles from the Dollar Store. They burn too fast and are a fire hazard. Invest in high quality candles. Cheaper than starting your tablecloth on fire, or damaging your table.
