I really appreciate how you broke it down from your years in nursing and your passion for the craft. Psychiatric mental health is definitely a specialty that requires passion and you’re so right…if you’re in it just for the money, you will get burned out quick! I’ve been a nurse 18 years and I’m 2017, I graduated with my MA-C in Human Service Counseling specializing in Trauma Crisis and PTSD and I feel that degree will really help me in the specialty. As usual, thanks for sharing and being a great online mentor!

Maybe not the first reason but I would place it at #3 right behind passion and work/life balance. If you hard I believe you should be well compensated for and not look at it as a negative or talk about it in a shy way. You should be proud of your accomplishments and they should be rewarded.

@Nelson Ramirez Thank you for your perspective on this. I agree with proper compensation, but my point here is not related to being rewarded. It is related to considering compensation before passion. While it is great to have the best of both worlds (being compensated for something you are passionate about), patients can extrapolate those who are not passionate about this work. This is not the field to go into simply for compensation. In my opinion, this work requires and deserves more than that. Thanks for watching! -Camellia D.
