The average person isn’t looking to spend $80 to $100 for a good bottle bourbon. There are a lot of great bourbons under $40 and some most people never talk about.. It seems everyone is chasing allocated bourbons and overlooking some great choices.. our plan is to highlight them and try more that we haven’t tried.. I look forward to viewer suggestions as well

I agree. While I appreciate bottles that can cost a bit, I'm not spending that much money on a regular basis. I consider those treats when I can afford to spend that much, but I usually tend to stick with good tasting, lesser expensive brands.

Very good list. I'm a few months into drinking bourbon and I have 4 of these bottles. I found 100 proof to be fine starting out, adding ice takes away that harshness really quick, and I can't see excluding WT101 for its proof when the flavors and value are a bullseye.

Thorough review @One More Bottle. Appreciate it. And I'm enjoying my new experience with this Wild Turkey 101 bourbon (neat). I'm still relatively new to whiskies in general. I started with high-end Irish & rye whiskies and still love them! As of now, just drinking this Wild Turkey 101 at room temp in my favorite whiskey glass and you know what? Not bad! It's very nice for the price. Is it amazing? I can't say that. But for it's price, loving it. This bourbon would taste great in cocktails for sure.

New subscriber, like your channel. Watching this today got me to pull out the bottle of Wild Turkey 101 that I had pushed to the back months ago and try it again. I just joined the bourbon community a year ago after not drinking spirits for over 35 years, I'm 77. I guess my pallet has changed because I did not care for this bottle at all when I bought it. But giving it a second chance surprised me, I really enjoyed it. So it is back up front. Still need to try the Rare Breed. Cheers

One thing I have learned is that after a bourbon is opened it will get better. The neck pour sometimes isn't as good as when you get the bottle down. A bottle I recommend is Russell Reserve 10 year. Okay for starters, if you've had bourbon and like it you're not a beginner so it boils down now to your budget. Keep in mind single barrels vary in taste so one bottle varies from the next. So let's take the risk and get these: 1. Eagle Rare 10 2. WT Rare Breed 3. Four Roses SB 4. Makers 46 5. Old Forester 1920 & 1910 6. Blantons I haven't had any of the Wellers, EH Taylor, pappy, the hard to find stuff.

Very nice selection. I have all except the Rare Breed. I will have to add that now! I too was turned off by the 'burn' for a lot of years until this past Christmas when My son had us do a blind and then for the first time ever I noticed a difference in the 3 spirits I had at the time. There was Jack Daniels 150th anniversary edition that I have had for several years and a Woodford Reserve wheat bourbon and then the 3rd was Knob creek Specs house select. Man o man... tasting and smelling and getting a difference between the three finally got me past the burn and now I have over 30 bottles and am starting to settle in to my favorite flavor profile. It took a long time but now it is enjoyable to sip a bourbon. I am finding that there are expressions more suited for mixing and others more for sipping in my opinion. As always...what you like is fine by me and I like what I like and I am ok with that. I also am finding out that over time my taste is changing and I never imagined that would happen. Thanks again for your help in this journey! Cheers.

Your journey is exactly like mine. I basically drank old fashioned for years or over a large cube. When I moved to neat it was an awesome experience. You finally can taste the complexity of flavors and yes your palate will change and then you will revisit a bourbon you didn't care for in the beginning and find that now its not so bad. Cheers and definitely add rare breed.

I keep a 1.75 of Basil Hayden’s and Gentleman Jack for beginners. I’ve found that typically anything over 90 proof and they are asking for for something to mix it with….
@OneMoreBottle2 жыл бұрын
Generally when we to bourbon tasting events I get them to take their first sip to get the shock of the burn out of the way. Then I have them sip again and generally that tones down the burn. Lower proof bourbons can actually have more burn than some of the higher proofs. Gentleman Jack is so good.

i like the Elijah Craig much as i like the Buffalo Trace but i think personally the EC is more spicy but is a sweet bourbon it just isn't as sweet as Buffalo Trace i think Buffalo Trace might be a better start for beginners because it has almost zero spice! just more Sweeter and drinkable in my opinion! not saying EC isn't an easy sipper because it's an absolutely delicious bourbon it's just might be a little too spicy for beginners lol. Buffalo Trace Bourbon Palate: Fruity sweet tones with oak spice, chocolate, and coffee Nose: Mild nose of fruit sweetness with fine spice and cinnamon Color: Deep copper Finish: Medium-length finish with fruity, oak, and wood spice notes with vanilla and baking spice Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon Palate: Chocolate flavors with hints of citrus, caramel, butterscotch, and wood Nose: Chocolate aroma with clove, oak, wood, and cinnamon notes on the nose Color: Reddish brown Finish: Warm finish with subtle wood spice notes, butterscotch, vanilla, spicy black pepper, and cinnamon FAQs Is Elijah Craig small batch sweeter than Buffalo Trace bourbon? No, Buffalo Trace bourbon has a sweeter taste than Elijah Craig’s small batch, which is spicy and warm. Buffalo Trace is more beginner-friendly than Elijah Craig, as it’s a well-rounded, easy sipper with a medium to full body. It’s an excellent start for those who's not accustomed to complex and warm whiskeys. Which is better drunk straight, Elijah Craig or Buffalo Trace? Buffalo Trace is better drunk straight than Elijah Craig small batch, as it doesn’t need the addition of water or ice
