awesome recital of corporate statements and product reviews. I know the same as I did before watching. great. Would be more helpful to see some of these side by side, are they all the same brightness? size? how are they stored? how do the prices compare?

One of the single most important design components of these LED emergency roadside devices is the type of on/off switch. If the unit has a press and hold button, and not an actual physical on/off switch (you hear an actual clicking sound when turned on or off), then the vampire drain from the momentary press button will cause the batteries inside to leak acid after awhile. Vampire drain just means that the device is always using battery power to sense your press on the on/off/mode switch button. Always. Every hour of every day. It may be a small drain but that's all it takes for the batteries to leak. In the case of a switch that actually completely disconnects the batteries from the circuitry, no power is being used to detect a button press. This is not a guarantee the batteries won't *eventually* leak, but it will be a lot longer amount of time, if at all, until they leak. Secondly, the method of installing batteries is very important. If you've just had an accident or a flat tire, the last thing you want to do is have to spend time with a screwdriver to take the lid off and install batteries then screw the lid back on. A screw on screw off type of cover (with a rubber gasket to weather seal it) would be far quicker. Thanks for your review. Do you know if any LED roadside flare has either of the above features? If you do, I'd love to hear back from you. Back in the mid 2000's there was a product called Turboflare 360, which had a real physical on/off switch, but one still had to use a screwdriver to get the battery compartment open and closed. One last note - in order to have all the different modes of flashing, the product would need 2 switches, one to power it on, and the other to switch modes. This would of course add to the cost. As a result, the Turboflare 360 had only one lighting mode.

@@goOutdoorZone You're welcome. So can I assume you're not aware of an LED-based "flare" that has the type of switch(es) that I discussed? Thank you.

I can vouch for that vampire drain issue. I've owned a pair of Wagan F.R.E.D lights for my car for a couple years now and have had to shorten times in between checking the batteries due to residue building up on the contacts if left for prolonged periods, like a year.

I love the circle ones with magnets so you can stick it on your car like on top or the side. You can stick them all over your car if you’re towing a vehicle or have a flat and are driving slow.

In my opinion Amber is much better than red. Much more visible in fog and snow. Amber is much safer

arguably, but also much much more dangerous. You can't list a pro and ignore the cons.

wow, three of those are just the same OEM rebadged for different marketers. The last one comes with a glass breaker and a seat belt cutter but you say the package is difficult to find space for, which means it's probably going to go in the trunk, a location that makes a seat belt cutter and a glass breaker all but completely useless.
