I don't really recommend F-Droid since security updates there are not prioritized. I recommend Aurora Store in combination with anonymous account. However, that does mean that you have to check for updates manually (which is ok since I do that 2x per day myself already)

F-Droid is amazing. When my mom got a new phone(Redmi10c), it was bloated with google apps.I mean everything from contacts to calendar to even messages was google apps. This was ridiculous. So I used universal android debloater to remove them all and replaced them with apps from F-Droid. It's great that something like this is out there. But now when I'm thinking about, I should've just flashed LineageOS and be done with it.

Would you make a video on Aurora Store? Pros and cons or compare to F Droid. My main concern with F Droid is updates and how slow they are on F Droid. I feel security is important and I worry critical updates are too slow on F Droid.

Aurora uses play store's apps, just anonymously. So in privacy, its better than play store but since the apps might still track you, it isnt as private as Fdroid

Transportr doesnt support western Washington state. I recommend the following for mass transit riders in the greater Seattle area: 1. OneBusAway (its been fairly reliable and accurate), but I only know to get it from Google Play or Aurora app stores. 2. The app called Transit (from Google Play or APKPure app stores) is my new favorite. It apparently pulls data from users in a crowd sourcing system, when available, and defaults to other sources otherwise, and even offers ETAs on ubers. 3. If riders are unaware, the numerous transit systems websites offer live updates (and maps, schedules, etc.), and notices on cancelations and delays. You can put links on your phone to the associated webpage for your route and bus stop. I use all on the regular. Doesnt stop me from being frustrated with the transit system but it does help me plan my time usage better.

Im partial to WebTube. Its a decent youtube frontend for the Android. I used to use NewPipe and youre not wrong about all those wonderful features it has. I wish I could use it reliably. Dont know if its just me but every time I update it the entire app craps out on me. I end up having to completely uninstall and reinstall from scratch to get it to work again, at which point I lose my subscriptions, favorites, etc. And there is a new damn update every other day.

There’s quite a few issues with f-droid that they don’t manage well between repos and archive. For example, newpipe and keepassdx are missing on the repo, and you have to go on a browser and manually change “repo” to “archive” in the link to be able to download them. This is quite the hassle at the moment. I found a post on their forum from august ‘17 which explained this problem and it seems it still hasn’t been resolved. This is a huge problem and many people will probably not use it or not as much because of that. I myself only realised it because I searched it, otherwise I would probably have given up on newpipe for example.

@@AkumaNoKuma I never used a custom icon pack, but in the KISS settings, it seems there is an option to select the Icon pack (I currently have ADW.Launcher theme, whatever default I got on my phone) and I know for sure it can hide programs you don't want to see in your drawer. But the interface is made more to type whatever program you want to open, rather than browsing, although you can scroll through the list if you fancy that.

Hey Mr Techlore. I watched your 2018 video on de google maybe a year ago from now. My idea is to create a group withing people I know that want to de google. We would meet up a few times over a few months and help eachother, motivate, bring info, etc. What do you think? I find it not at all easy to take action on moving away from big tech. I have been using gmail maybe since it became available, I have a hotmail account since it also became available, etc. It feels a like a job in itself to de google and move away from tech giants. Really liked the video, I have a suggestion. What about you make some videos showing the best OS for some devices that can't install GrapheneOS as suggest in a previous video. For example: Motorola G4 Plus (athene) or any other smartphone that you're able to use and test the best OS for privacy and security. In the moment, I'm using LineageOS and still looking for a OS that can provide some result like GrapheneOS. You could also create some List and the people share the FOSS apps that they used, and with time you add those apps based in your usage and them you update list every month or as soon as possible.
